10 ‘Must Have’ Items for Disney Waterparks

Packing for a trip to a Disney waterpark is a lot like packing for a trip to the parks. There are two waterparks on Disney property, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. You are most likely going to be there all day, so you have to make sure you have everything you need. Here are 10 things you will want to pack to ensure a worry free day at the waterpark.

10. Swimsuits

This may seem like a no-brainer, but believe it or not some people think they can get away with just wearing regular clothes. Neither waterparks allow guests to swim or use the waterslides without having a proper swimsuit on. So come prepared!

9. Flip Flops

This is a must for me. The floors of bathrooms and restaurants can get very slippery and dirty, so either wear a pair of flip-flops to the waterpark or bring a pair with you. I guarantee you won’t regret it!

8. Sunscreen

Whenever I mention to someone that I will be vacationing in Florida, they always tell me to wear sunscreen, the sun is different in Florida. And it’s true! If you are not use to the constant sunshine, make sure you use the right sunscreen for your skin. No one wants to spend the remainder of their vacation sunburned.

7. Towels

As hot as the Florida sun is, it’s always nice to have your own towel to dry off with. Both waterparks rent out towels for a couple dollars, but why spend the extra money when you can just bring your own?

6. Water and Snacks

One of the wonderful things about Disney is that they allow you to bring food and drinks into the parks, with the exception of glass and alcohol. Your family will most likely be running around all day, riding waterslides and playing in the wave pool, and you will get hungry. If you are looking to save a couple bucks, bring some easy to eat snacks or even sandwiches, if you please. It also gets very hot in central Florida. If you aren’t from Florida, you may not be used to it. I definitely recommend bringing a few disposable water bottles with you. It’s so important to keep hydrated when staying out in the heat for long periods of time.

5. Change of Clothes

This is one of those things that you will be extremely grateful for when you’re getting ready to leave. Sometimes we think it’s easier to just put our bathing suits on under our clothes. But unless you are comfortable with traveling back wet, I highly recommend bringing a change of clothes. This is especially convenient for the little ones who stay in the water until the very last second. Both Disney waterparks have changing areas, so definitely bring something to change into.

4. Beach Bag/ Backpack

This is another fairly obvious necessity, but sometimes it’s the most obvious things we forget. Make sure whatever you chose to bring is waterproof or water-safe. If you don’t want to get it wet, don’t bring it!

3. Money

Bringing a little cash anywhere you go is always a good idea. If you want to rent lockers for your things, you will need money to pay for those. Cabanas can be rented out also. For a charge of course! Even if you decide to bring snacks and food with you, you never know if you will need to buy more food or drinks, so set aside some money just incase.

2. Plastic Bags

This may not seem like the most important item, but you will thank me in the end! Chances are your swimsuits will still be pretty wet when you are getting ready to leave the waterpark. Instead of throwing all your wet suits into the bag with everything else, bring at least one plastic bag to keep the wet stuff separated from the dry items.

1. Band-Aids

No matter where I go, I always bring band-aids. You never know when someone might scrape a knee or elbow. Although most parks and waterparks do have a first-aid center, I just find it easier to bring them myself. Plus, they always come in handy for those annoying blisters from walking around the parks all day!

Disney waterparks are a great way for your family to cool off from the hot Florida sun and still enjoy time together as a family. No matter which waterpark you chose to go to, follow these tips and I guarantee it will make your trip ten times easier!
