10 things That Should Be On Your Disney “Bucket List”

We all have those things that we wish we would have done. There’s so much to do within the World of Disney that you won’t want to miss out on. Don’t wait any longer, and add these items to your Disney bucket list.

10) Be the Grand Marshall of a parade:

Although each parade’s Grand Marshall is usually chosen at random, there’s no reason why it shouldn’t be on your Disney bucket list! Getting asked to lead a parade is an amazingly special experience for your family to enjoy together.

9) Meet a Cast Member from each country in World Showcase:

For my socialites out there, this Disney World bucket list item is for you. How often do you get to travel around the world in a single day? (Unless you’re Santa, chances are, not so often…) In Epcot’s World Showcase you can do just that. Wouldn’t it be amazing to make a point of meeting a person from each of the eleven countries found around the World Showcase lagoon?

8) Conquer Summit Plummet:

At Walt Disney World’s Blizzard Beach, is a water slide that is feared by many and conquered by few: Summit Plummet. I personally love a good adrenaline rush, and I still have not built up the courage to slide 120 feet down Mount Gushmore. If you consider yourself a fellow adrenaline junkie, I definitely recommend adding this one to your Disney bucket list. You, (including your bathing suit), can cross it off your bucket list!

7) Spend a full day in the park from rope drop to close:

Spending a full day in a single park may seem like a long time, but if you’re not too familiar with Disney’s parks, I recommend doing this. Each park has enough restaurant variety in order to ensure your family has lots of meals to choose from throughout the day. Also, the amount of shows, entertainment, and characters will easily fill up a Disney day. Single park admission will cut out transportation time and replace it with more Disney magic!

6) Visit all four parks in one day:

If you’re not too familiar with Walt Disney world transportation, this one may be difficult. Even so, I have faith that you can do it. The task of visiting all four parks in a single day requires planning: find the park that opens first and take advantage of extra magic hours if you are a resort guest. Then, make sure to plan your fast passes and dining reservations. (using the My Disney Experience app if possible) Also, know what methods of transportation to use in order to be efficient with your precious Disney time. If you keep in mind all of these details, you’ll have an awesome Disney-filled day!

5) Take an underground tour of Magic Kingdom:

For those of you who may not know, there is an underground metropolis supporting the Magic Kingdom Park. Management, corporate offices, parade floats, character costumes, and more are housed underneath the park. So technically, the Magic Kingdom is a full story about ground level. This behind the scenes tour is an excellent way to see how everything magically occurs in Walt Disney World. But be warned, unless you want to “ruin” the magic of the park, save yourself the money and do not go on this tour. For example, I wouldn’t recommend bringing little kids on this tour.

4) Be a Cast Member:

Whatever age, I think it is definitely bucket list worthy to work at Walt Disney world at some point of everyone’s life. Being immersed in the “Happiest place on earth” atmosphere on a daily basis would be an amazing experience. The college program, part-time, full-time, and seasonal employment options are all available to choose from depending on your preferences. The possibilities are endless for what you could do for Disney, from entertainment to corporate office work, so you can be sure it is something you will enjoy! (The benefits of working for Disney aren’t so bad either…)

3) Attend a 24-hour Disney celebration:

In recent years, Disney has begun hosting a fantastic all day event in their parks. For a full 24 hours, (6am-6am), guests can enjoy the park on as much coffee, and energy drinks that they please. The
name of this 24 hour event, “Rock Your Disney Side,” is included in your regular theme park admission. During the event guests are encouraged to dress up like their favorite princesses, pirates, or other
Disney characters.

2) Get to a park in time for rope drop:

On a normal day, the Walt Disney World parks open anytime from 9-10 am in the morning. (or earlier if there are Extra Magic Hours) Getting to the park for rope drop is definitely something everyone should do at least once. The park festivities begin even before you enter the park, with music, enthusiastic cast member activities, and other excited guests ready to start their Disney day. Also, since you’re at the park early, you get to experience short wait times before the park gets more crowded.

1) Watch Wishes from The California Grill:

For a truly magical “dinner and a show” experience, book a dinner reservation at the Contemporary Resort’s California Grill. In my opinion, this is the best possible view of the entire Magic Kingdom firework spectacular known as Wishes. If you book your dinner reservation to overlap with the show, (which is usually around 9 or 10 pm), you can get up from your table and go onto the balcony outside the 15th floor restaurant to watch the fireworks. I also put this on my Disney bucket list for the food: it’s just about as good as food gets.
