15 Things We Love About The Restaurants At Magic Kingdom

Every Disney fanatic knows that the dining experiences at Disney World have a lot to offer, from great food to unique meet and greet opportunities. The menus offer much more than standard “theme park fare” though food items of that variety are available as well. Magic Kingdom’s restaurants have something for everyone, no matter what your age or taste preference. Here are just a few of the things we love about the restaurants at Magic Kingdom:

1. Every Morning They Help You Get Large

If you select the warm cinnamon roll at Gaston’s Tavern, anyway! This enormous pastry lives up to its name, served warm with gooey icing drizzled into every nook and cranny. You can opt for the ham and cheese-stuffed pretzel if you’re looking for something a little less sweet. And don’t forget to get a cup of LeFou’s Brew, their signature drink.

2. They’re Full of Character!

Several of Magic Kingdom’s restaurants give you the opportunity to meet your favorite characters while you dine. Crystal Palace is a true guest favorite because diners are treated to visits from Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, and Eeyore as they enjoy a buffet of American favorites.

3. They Transport You to Another Place

One of Magic Kingdom’s Newer Restaurants, Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. Skipper Canteen serves somewhat more exotic fare than other restaurants in the park, with items such as Shu Mai, Cachapas, Char Siu Pork, and Berber Lamb Chops appearing on the menu. In addition, it features fun theming from the Jungle Cruise and other adventurous locales. Kungaloosh!

4. They Never Strike Out

Not at the baseball-themed Casey’s Corner anyway, when they’re serving such American favorites as chili-cheese hot dogs, barbecue slaw dogs, corn dog nuggets, fries, and naturally, cracker jack! Kids often find this place to be a home run of a choice!

5. Meals Can Be Beastly… In a Good Way!

Be Our Guest Restaurant in Fantasyland offers guests the only opportunity to have a meet and greet with Beast. And even then, you’ll only get that chance if you dine there during dinner service. Just be sure not to shudder at his paw when you greet him!

6. They Serve “What the Land Folks Loves to Cook”

With their tried and true lobster roll and other seafood specialties, Columbia Harbor House continues to rank extremely well on the list of Disney guests’ favorite eateries, year after year. And it’s all served up with a heaping helping of coastal New England charm. So long as the fish don’t start singing about who’s gon’ be on the plate, you’ll find it to be a cozy place to eat as well.

7. They Don’t Mind If You Waffle About Your Food Choice

Sleepy Hollow doesn’t do a lot, but what they do they do well. And what this Liberty Square quick service restaurant does is waffles and waffle sandwiches. Whether you get them with powdered sugar, cinnamon, fruit and chocolate hazelnut spread, or even chicken, you pretty much can’t go wrong. Their sweet spot seems to be fried batter, because they also make great funnel cakes.

8. DIY Is A-OK!

While you’re not allowed in the kitchen in most Disney restaurants, Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Café does the next best thing by allowing you to customize your entrée at their endless toppings bar. Load up your burrito, fajitas, taco burger, or nachos with such extras as salsa, guacamole, peppers, onions, pico de gallo, and roasted corn salsa.

9. They Whip Up Wonderful Treats

How can a place with such a limited menu be so well-loved? Well, if you’re Aloha Isle and you’re serving Dole Whips and Dole Whip Floats, the answer is obvious to all but the uninitiated. And if you’re still uninitiated about Disney’s iconic Dole Whip, seriously, what are you waiting for?

10. You’ll Find Enchantment There

Especially at Tony’s Town Square Restaurant, where Lady and the Tramp are known to have shared their first spaghetti strand-inspired kiss! This trattoria features delicious Italian favorites from appetizers to desserts. And you’ll enjoy the Lady and the Tramp references and subtle touches everywhere.

11. They Give You the Royal Treatment

A meal at Cinderella’s Royal Table will make you feel like a princess or prince, since it takes place in sumptuous surroundings inside Cinderella’s Castle. The medieval touches are everywhere, from flags to stained-glass windows, but the food is contemporary cuisine. You’ll get the chance to hobnob with your fellow nobility as several Disney princesses make their way to your table on a royal tour.

12. They’re Patriotic

Every day can be Thanksgiving at Liberty Tree Tavern, with turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and macaroni and cheese served family-style in a Colonial tavern setting. Or shake Thanksgiving up a bit by having the prime rib or pork roast instead!

13. They Keep Things a Nosh Above

For quick on-the-go snacks or lunches, The Lunching Pad in Tomorrowland is hard to beat – particularly if you are a fan of the pretzels served at Disney World. From Mickey pretzels with cheese dip to cream cheese pretzels to ham and cheese-stuffed pretzels, there’s a pretzel for every taste. And when you can wash it down with a frozen Coke? Heaven!

14. Kids Love Them, and That’s No Lie

Pinocchio Village Haus will likely be able to please even the most stubborn picky eater among your clan. They offer chicken nuggets, chicken sandwiches, pizza, flatbread sandwiches with pepperoni and sausage, and macaroni and cheese. No real boy or girl could turn up their noses at those selections! But just in case you’ve got a really hard case, they also offer Smucker’s Uncrustables, tomato soup, and breadsticks. Mom and Dad aren’t left out, as they can opt for the chicken parmesan with pasta or on a sandwich, or the Caesar salad.

15. They Know When to Tone Things Down

Even Disney calls The Plaza Restaurant “inconspicuous”, despite this eatery being located at the end of Main Street, U.S.A. It’s hard to believe that one of the quietest dining experiences is found so close to the front of the park, especially one with such wonderful comfort foods on the menu, but you’ll find it right around the corner from Plaza Ice Cream Parlor. Enjoy the meatloaf, cheese steak sandwich, fried green tomato sandwich, cheeseburger, or Reuben, among other delicious options. If you do, we doubt you’ll be able to keep it hush-hush!
