Animal Kingdom is separately located from the rest of the parks. The Animal Kingdom Lodge is compromised of two intricately detailed areas of the resort – Kidani Village and Jambo House. Staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge is a unique experience because you are isolated, but also immersed in the theming. A part of this immersion is taking your tastebuds on a tour of the restaurants at the Animal Kingdom Lodge – here is our list of the five you have to check out!

5 – Victoria Falls Lounge – located at the Jambo House, the Victoria Falls Lounge features the traditional drink options of other bars and lounges at the Walt Disney World Resort, but also features a selection of wines, beers, and cocktails from Africa. In addition to the tantalizing drinks served up on the menu, you can also get a small selection of appetizers here. Guests can choose from an array of cheeses, a selection of bread and spreads, or a variety of African-inspired tapas. A stop here is the perfect appetizer to any of the other restaurants on our list!

4 – The Mara – this restaurant is the quick-service option at the Jambo House, but the menus offer a diverse selection of foods to satisfy whatever appetite you may have. Breakfast serves up the traditional breakfast offerings, but also with some African flairs! Lunch and dinner allow guests more of an opportunity to explore the flavors of Africa, but also remain rooted to traditional selections. Guests will also like the late-night dining offered at this restaurant.

3 – Boma – Flavors of Africa – Boma is a good second step for guests looking to more deeply explore the food of Africa. Meals are served buffet-style at Boma both of breakfast and dinner. In addition to the expansive menu that features both traditional and African-inspired menu items, guests can also look out onto the savannah to see the animals roaming about!

2 – Jiko – The Cooking Place – Jiko is a totally immersive restaurant serving dinner to guests. There are a variety of appetizers, entrées, and desserts all drawing from African origins. This is a signature dining experience, so make sure you bring an appetite because you will want to sample much on this menu – keep this in mind if you are utilizing the Disney Dining Plan since it will cost two table-service credits. It is also highly recommended that you have advanced dining reservations to make sure you get a table!

1 – Sanaa – Sanna is located at Kidani Village and the meal that you have is certainly worth the additional trip! Any meal at Sanaa is not complete without the bread service – our family has engaged in great debate as to what the best is, so rather than choose, we get the option that allows us to enjoy them all! We also love the varied menu for entrees, as well! Since the menu can be confusing for guests, don’t worry! The wait staff at Sanaa is very accommodating and can answer any questions that you have about the spices used in the dishes so you can find a selection that works for you!

Given the isolation of the Animal Kingdom Lodge, it makes sense that there are so many great dining options for guests staying there. And for guests who are not staying there, don’t be intimidated by the distance of the drive to the resort –it is definitely worth it – try any of these options, you won’t be disappointed!
