5 Sensational Snacks You Must Try at Walt Disney World

Mickey Pretzel

What gets me almost as excited as riding the rides and experiencing the attractions at Walt Disney World? The food! There are endless options available for every taste and palate, and as a major foodie I become downright giddy when I see a new snack or meal offering at the various Parks. I eagerly anticipate the taste experience because the memory will forever be tied to Disney, and eating food at Disney just gets my taste buds dancing all the more. One of my favorite ways to seal a perfect Disney memory is getting a great-tasting snack-on-the-go from one of their food carts while taking in the wondrous sights of Disney ingenuity all around me. Watching people take that scream-inducing Splash Mountain drop is even better when you’re chomping on a churro. In the last decade, Disney has amped up their food carts which are methodically stationed around all four theme parks as well as Downtown Disney, giving us way more than the usual, run-of-the-mill hot dogs and popcorn menu options. You can’t lose ordering a Mickey Premium Bar or turkey leg, but there might be other options you didn’t even realize were available. Let’s take a look at 5 AMAZING food cart snacks you simply must try at Walt Disney World.

5. Cinnamon Glazed Nuts

You can smell these entrancing goodies from a mile away, and the heavenly aroma can lead you to one of many snack carts on Disney property that offer these divine treats. The glazed nuts are made on Disney property and taste just as amazing room temperature as they do piping hot from the oven. You have two options here—cinnamon glazed almonds or cinnamon glazed pecans—and both are true winners. Yes, they are covered in a syrupy sugar coating, but they are a far more mild “sweet” than, say, a cookie or ice cream snack. These paper bags chock-full of nuts will most definitely tide you over until your next meal, and are very shareable (though sharing might be difficult after one crunch of these candied nuts, trust me). These snacks are available to purchase at every Disney Park, and can be found at numerous snack carts throughout each location.

4. Gourmet Popcorn

What’s more addicting than popcorn? Well, coffee, for one. And maaaaybe salty French fries fresh from the fryer. But I think it’s safe to say that popcorn is right up there vying for the number one slot. The truth of the matter is that popcorn at Disney is phenomenal. Most people would be hard pressed to resist a bag once their nose caught a mouthwatering whiff from the many fresh-popping snack carts. I don’t know how they make classic buttered popcorn taste like the best thing you’ve ever eaten, but they’ve figured out a way to make this one of the tastiest and most addicting snacks on property. Disney popcorn is a perfect food cart snack, no surprise there. But did you know that there is a food cart on Disney property that offers popcorn with a twist? Head over to Epcot’s Gourmet Popcorn Cart in Future World near the Imagination Pavilion and select from one of three different options—Cheddar, Buffalo Bleu Cheese, or Sour Cream and Chive. Here’s the skinny—if you are completely unsure which option your taste buds would fancy, simply ask for a sample and the cast member will put three pieces in a tiny cup for you to test out. These flavors are slightly milder than what you might expect…nothing overpowering or heavy, even though the vibrantly colored coating might suggest otherwise. There’s no doubt about it though—these are certainly yummy! Expand your popcorn horizons, and give these fun, unique flavors a try!

3. Jalapeño Cheese-Stuffed Pretzel

Soft pretzels are all over Disney property and are a perfect way to fill up in between meals. While it is oh-so-tempting to order a pretzel in the shape of Mickey Mouse’s head, why not take a slight diversion and try out the Jalapeno Cheese Stuffed Pretzel found at various snack carts? The classic pretzel flavor is kicked up a notch with the subtle spiciness of jalapeno cheese. Don’t let the “Jalapeno” title intimidate you, these snacks contain only mild heat and won’t have you clamoring for a gulp of milk in between bites. You can find these specifically inside Animal Kingdom at the Flame Tree Barbeque snack cart as well as near the Kali River Rapids Exit at a snack cart. These are also available at the Pretzel Cart on Streets of America inside Hollywood Studios.

2. Egg Rolls

The Egg Roll Cart located inside Adventureland at the Magic Kingdom provides two different selections of the egg roll variety—Vegetable and Pork. These tasty snacks are fried to a golden brown and filled with flavor from the cooked veggies and savory pork. Be forewarned—give it a couple of minutes before you take that first bite so as not to scald your mouth as they are quite steamy on the inside. These are a great and unique snack on Disney property and are easy on the wallet. If you’re in the vicinity, give these savory snacks a try while you kick back and watch unsuspecting bystanders get sprayed with water from those nearby spitting camels.

1. Hot Roast Beef and Swiss Sandwich

Located inside Liberty Square at the Magic Kingdom, you can find The Liberty Square Sandwich Cart. The good news? This delicious hot sandwich is finger-lickin fantastic. The bad news? This food cart is only open seasonally. The good news again? Even if the food cart isn’t there, you can still find this filling sandwich at the nearby Liberty Square Market. There are two sandwich offerings—Hot Ham and Cheddar Sandwich with Dijonnaise Sauce and the Hot Roast Beef and Swiss Sandwich with Horseradish Sauce. These sandwiches fall more on the meal side of the food spectrum rather than just a snack, but if you’re sharing this can easily be a great supplement in between lunch and dinner. They are generous with the meat, piling it high below gooey melted cheese. The soft, yet crunchy bread and finishing sauce helps make this a perfect comfort food. Don’t hesitate to order this yummy sandwich, especially on a brisk, Magic Kingdom day!
