6 Reasons Why Disney World is the Perfect College Spring Break Trip!

Spring Break is quickly approaching college campuses and students are eager to get a well deserved vacation from their studies. While some might choose to go the typical beach route, there are some of us who would rather have a much tamer way to blow off steam. No matter what vacation you choose, Spring Break hot spots will always be crowded so you might as well spend the week at Disney World because it offers more enriching activities than the average beach trip. Here are a few reasons why you should consider ditching Daytona and hopping on the Monorail!

6. Variety Disney World has something to offer for everyone. For the thrill seekers, Disney has The Tower of Terror, The Rock ‘N’ Rollercoaster, Space Mountain, Thunder Mountain Railroad, Expedition Everest, MISSION: Space, Test Track and Kali River Rapids. If you are craving that beach experience, Disney has two water parks: Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon that will keep you close to that stereotypical spring break vibe! For those of us who want to take it easy during our free week, Disney has us covered there too. Downtown Disney is a great area for shopping and dining while Epcot and Hollywood Studios are excellent for experiencing foreign cultures and seeing exciting stage shows.

5. Safe One of the things that worries me the most about Spring Break is my safety. As a young woman I don’t like going anywhere alone or with a few friends because I’m not comfortable with my surroundings. Disney can help to eliminate that uneasy feeling. When going into Disney parks, bags are always checked so anyone carrying items not permitted in the parks are turned away to either put the items in their car or to leave. Disney has some pretty tight security and many areas in the parks are recorded. Even if I am leaving the parks at their late closing hours, I feel safe on my journey back to the hotel because there is always at least one Cast Member around.

4. Family Friendly Because Disney World is a family friendly place, you can ensure that wild behavior will not be tolerated in the parks. If guests are being unruly, they will be told to leave. During Spring Break, some students like to drink copious amounts of alcohol which is something not all of us really want to do. Going into the parks is a great way to enjoy our time off without worrying about drunken outbursts ruining our fun.

3. Drinking Responsibly While Disney is family friendly, that doesn’t mean guests over 21 can’t drink alcohol. Epcot is the best place to sample alcoholic beverages in Disney World because the World Showcase has so many choices from around the globe. You can drink responsibly because you likely won’t be getting completely drunk in the park. You’ll be walking around a lot as well as eating a lot so the alcohol you ingest will not have as much of an effect on you. Plus, you’ve paid for the entire Disney World experience so why would you want to walk around getting so drunk you can’t enjoy it? Also remember that alcohol can get pretty expensive quickly in the park so that is a good way to keep your blood/alcohol levels in check as well as your wallet.

2. Transportation This goes in to the safety and drinking sections I mentioned. If you stay on Disney property, there is always transportation available to take you to the parks or other hotels on property. This cuts down on your daily parking fees and it is another way that Disney makes you feel safe. You don’t have to worry about driving around Orlando at night. Believe me, I know how confusing Orlando roads can be and they are always jammed. Taking Disney’s shuttles eliminates your stress of driving in foreign territory and your parents will sleep better at night knowing you are in good hands. If you do decide to get a few drinks in Downtown Disney, your Disney shuttles will take you back to your hotel safely. You don’t even have to worry about driving inebriated and you make the smart choice not to drink and drive. It makes the roads a little bit safer by simply hopping on a shuttle and staying off the roads after a late night of partying.

1. Expectations Even if you’ve never been to Disney, you already have an idea of what to expect. It’s a theme park so there will be rides, shows, lines and crowds. I like having things planned out so I know what to expect because I’m not the most adventurous person. Disney feels safe to me because I have a good idea of what will happen in the parks. Going to the beach or taking a road trip for Spring Break has too many chances of error for me. What happens if it rains the whole week I’m at the beach? What happens if the car breaks down on the road trip? With Disney, I know for a fact that if it rains in the park, many of the rides and shows are inside so a little bad weather will not ruin my entire vacation. If my friends decide we are going to pack up and go to Disney for a week, I will feel more comfortable because I know what I am getting myself into.
Spring Break is supposed to a fun little vacation that takes the stress off of us for a few days, but often times it can get very stressful and hectic. Things can go horribly wrong such as bad weather, unclean hotel rooms, irresponsible drinking and worse. We hear about tragedies occurring Spring Break so I worry about my safety and the safety of others when I start to plan a Spring Break excursion. Disney is the perfect alternative for those of us who want a wholesome getaway filled with an extremely diverse set of activities. Don’t believe the misconception that Disney is just for children. It’s for everyone, especially us overworked college students who just want to ride Space Mountain and hug Goofy.
