7 of the Best Restaurants in the Magic Kingdom

The Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World is a wondrous, magical, exciting Disney themed Park which offers both young and old an opportunity to enjoy a fun-filled experience they will never forget. At the Magic Kingdom, you can visit Tomorrowland, the land of the future, Fantasyland, a land filled with Princesses, a magnificent Carousel, and Cinderella’s Castle, Liberty Square, the home of a Haunted Mansion, Frontierland, where you can relive the days of the Old West, and Adventureland, where you can take a cruise through the Jungle, or take a boat ride through a Pirate Adventure. The fun and thrills are endless, but what is also special are the dining choices, which are amazing. You won’t regret it if you give some of the ones I have highlighted.

1. Liberty Tree Tavern — Liberty Square (Lunch, Dinner) — From the moment you step into the lobby of this Colonial themed restaurant, you will be immersed in the atmosphere of New England in the 1700’s. The Colonial furnishings and artifacts add to the mood and spirit of the thirteen original colonies. There are six different dining rooms, and all of them are uniquely decorated to highlight this era in American history. The menu offers typical New England style courses, such as grilled chicken, seared salmon, New England pot roast, clam chowder, and the Pilgrim’s Feast, braised beef in a Cabernet wine and mushroom sauce served with mashed potatoes and garden vegetables. Desserts include a fruit crisp, Johnny Appleseed’s cake, Martha Wahington’s cake, or a ooey, gooey coffee cake. Is you mouth watering yet? Reservations suggested.

2. Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Café — Frontierland (Lunch, Dinner) — Come on in and sit a spell in this Western-themed quick service restaurant. With wooden floors, tables and stools, light fixtures with flickering candle effects, and music playing tunes from the Old West, this dining option will definitely put you in the mood for some good old Western vittles. You can choose from a 1/3 lb Angus cheeseburger, Veggie burger, barbequed pork sandwich, deluxe chicken sandwich, Karubi style short ribs, Southwest chicken salad, or a delicious bowl of a cowboy’s favorite chili. For dessert enjoy chocolate or carrot cake, or Greek yogurt. If you’re in the mood for an Old West dinner, this is where you will want to “chow down”.

3. Crystal Palace — Main Street USA — (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Character Meal) — Located just at the end of Main Street, this elegant, Victorian styled restaurant was built to resemble elaborate greenhouses of the late 1800’s, with windows, topiaries, and tropical palms throughout the beautiful bright and sunny dining rooms. Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, and other Hundred-Acre Woods characters will stop by your table for laughs, photographs, and autographs. The buffet style dining offers three sittings daily, breakfast (puffed French toast, made-to-order omelets, baked pastries, fruit), Lunch (carved flank steak, oven roasted chicken, Atlantic salmon, chicken nuggets, assorted vegetables, desserts, and more) Dinner (savory sirloin, peel-and-eat shrimp, carved turkey, chicken, fish and vegetable creations, freshly prepared pastas, and House made desserts). Each buffet offers a variety of scrumptious choices, and include a visit from Winnie the Pooh and friends. What could be more entertaining? Reservations suggested.

4. Pinocchio Village Haus — Fantasyland — (Lunch, Dinner) — The theme of this quaint little quick service restaurant is from the classic Disney full length animated feature, “Pinocchio”. The design inside and out resembles a small eatery located in a picturesque village located in the mountains of northern Italy. The wooden furniture and light fixtures add to the “Pinocchio” theme, with beautiful murals decorating the walls depicting scenes from the movie. There is also a large window on the inside where you can sit, dine, and watch the boats loading and unloading on the “It’s A Small World” attraction. The mostly Italian menu offers delicious choices such as a Caprese or pepperoni flatbread, a meatball or Italian flatbread sub, a Mediterranean salad, Caesar salad with chicken, or chicken breast nuggets, with side items like French fries or garlic pesto bread knots. For dessert, there is chocolate cake or chocolate gelato. You will enjoy the scrumptious food, delightful surroundings, and the fantastic view of Fantasyland.

5. The Plaza Restaurant — Main Street — (Lunch, Dinner) — This full service restaurant is filled with the beauty and charm of a turn of the century Victorian style bistro, complete with furnishings that transport you back to the days of elegance and simplicity. The wait staff wears costumes that are straight out of the early 1800’s. Besides the pleasant atmosphere, the food will offer even greater rewards. There are a variety of tasty lunch or dinner choices; for example, a beef brisket onion burger, cheese steak sandwich, meatloaf meal, Plaza club, chicken strawberry, or grilled chicken salad, just to name a few. The home made chips are spectacular. Save room for a dessert; for instance, a brownie sundae, New York-style cheesecake, ice cream, or ice cream floats, or try the original banana split. After dinner, find a good place along Main Street to relax and enjoy the Electrical Parade, and let your food settle. The Plaza Restaurant is a grand place to enjoy a delicious meal. Reservations suggested.

6. Be Our Guest Restaurant — Fantasyland — (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) — You will be immersed in the fantasy and magic of Disney’s classic movie, “Beauty and the Beast”, once you enter this mystical replica of the Beast’s castle. There are three elegant dining rooms to choose from: The Grand Ballroom,a magnificent ballroom with a high domed ceiling, sparkling chandeliers, and windows with a view of a raging snowstorm; The West Wing, where there is a darker more mysterious atmosphere, where the centerpiece is the glass bell jar containing the enchanted rose, and over the fireplace a portrait of a young handsome prince in human form, is slashed by a beast’s claw; The Rose Gallery features a large music box centerpiece nearly 7 feet tall with Belle and Beast slowly twirling atop. Paintings and tapestries celebrate scenes and characters from the movie. Now for a menu sampling: Breakfast—open-faced ham sandwich, open-faced bacon and egg sandwich, eggs Florentine, all served with fruit and pastries; Lunch—carved prime chuck roast beef sandwich, braised pork, carved turkey sandwich, each served with vegetables or fries; Dinner—grilled strip steak, pan-seared chicken breast, layered Ratatouille, accompanied by seasoned vegetables. The desserts are heavenly. You can choose from a strawberry cream cheese cupcake, triple chocolate cupcake, or how about Lumiere’s special “grey stuff” (try it, you’ll love it). Dining at the “Be Our Guest” Restaurant is an experience you don’t want to miss. Reservations are suggested. Breakfast and lunch are counter service meals, and dinner is a table service meal.

7. Cinderella’s Royal Table — Fantasyland — (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) — Imagine being able to actually enter Cinderella’s Castle and meet Cinderella herself, then dine in an elegant ballroom while several Disney Princesses visit your table? Well, your dream can come true at Walt Disney World. This dining experience is the most magical meal you will ever have. Upon entering the majestic Grand Hall, you will have an audience with Princess Cinderella, where cast members are ready to take pictures with your camera or you can use your Photopass option for truly magnificent photos. After your visit with Cinderella, you and your entire group are invited to ascend a spiral staircase to join other royal guests for a feast “fit for a king” in the Royal Dining Hall. This dining hall is elegantly decorated with plush red purple velvet tapestries, elaborate chandeliers, medieval flags, an extra large vaulted ceiling, and light is pouring in from the stunning stained glass windows. Menu sampling: Breakfast—French toast, steak and eggs, baked quiche, crepes and pastries; Lunch—slow cooked short ribs, Her Majesty’s “catch of the day”, pan seared chicken, rice with roasted vegetables, slow roasted pork tenderloin; Dinner—the same as lunch menu, with the addition of steak and shrimp. Desserts are divine, like lemon sorbet, seasonal cheesecake, and the signature dessert called “The Clock Strikes Twelve”: white and dark chocolate in a tribute to the moment Cinderella lost her slipper. Although dining at Cinderella’s Royal Table can be expensive, you can take advantage of your Free Dining Plan, if it is included in your Disney Vacation Package. If you do not have this option, I would suggest that you budget your financial plans to include this magnificent dining opportunity. Reservations and pre-payment are required and are difficult to acquire, so reserve early. This is definitely “must-do” when visiting WDW and the Magic Kingdom, a “dream come true”.
*Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all full service meals*

In closing, I would like to say that there are many other fantastic dining choices at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World. These were, in my opinion, the top seven. “Bon appetite”!

I have been a Disney fanatic since 1959, when my parents took my sister and I on a journey across the country to Disneyland. Needless to say, we were thrilled, and this became our vacation destination for the next 10 years. Later, when Walt Disney World was opened, we travelled to Florida and discovered a whole new Disney experience, and WDW became our new vacation destination. Now, our extended family members are all Disney Fanatics and always ready to talk about anything Disney.
