7 Things We Love About T-Rex Cafe

Do you have a dino-lover in your clan? Then a trip to T-Rex Cafe should definitely be a part of your itinerary. However, even those who generally shrug their shoulders at pre-historic reptiles are still bound to have a good time. Here’s why everyone in your tribe will leave with a toothy grin…

7. The Food – It’s delicious. There’s no other way to say it. From appetizers to entrees, the food is just excellent. Now, don’t go expecting a fancy filet mignon. But the menu is varied to fit any taste craving from burgers to pastas to salads to ribs. And the portion sizes are worthy of a true t-rex – huge! I highly recommend the mammoth-sized Guac-asaurus Burger – mmmm!

6. The Prices – In my opinion, the prices are excellent. With burgers and sandwiches around $15 and other entrees from $20-$35, it seems very fair considering you are getting a unique experience along with your tasty dish. And again, the amount of food is quite large, so you may even get another meal out of the leftovers (two for the price of one!).

5. The Ambiance – This is what you go for. The larger-than-life creatures, the various habitats, the meteor shower every 15 minutes….it all adds up to a sense of being transported back in time, while still comfortably noshing with clean cutlery. We’ve always been seated in the ice cave portion, which is super fun because of the changing color of the lights behind the “ice” (though arguably it’s the loudest place because of the echo-effect of the cave). After ordering and before the food arrives, we like to stroll around just to take in the varying decor and visit with each of the dinosaurs up close. Even the bathroom is a feast for the eyes!

4. The Gift Shop – The gift shop at the front of the restaurant is worth stopping in even if you don’t eat inside! There’s lots of dino merchandise and a “fossil-dig” sand-pit area for kids to kill some time while waiting. They even have a place where kids can build and dress their own stuffed dinosaur, similar to Build-a-Bear Workshop. Overall, a dino-lover could drop some serious coin!

3. The Service – I’ve read mixed reviews on service, but we’ve been to T-Rex more than once and have never had poor service. It is a very busy place, for sure. But in my opinion the service lives up to the Disney standard. Our food and drinks have always come quickly and the server was as attentive as could be expected in a place like that (it’s not a gourmet restaurant, for heaven’s sake).

2. The Kid Appeal – Let’s be serious. If you’re thinking of going to T-Rex, you most likely have kids. They know this. Upon entering, each kid is given a dinosaur crown to wear and a nice activity book that is surprisingly good for a wide range of ages. The kid’s meals are delicious, according to my minis, and the portion sizes are generous in relation to the prices. My brood all chose pizza last time, and we left with dino-bags for the next day’s lunch.

1. The Desserts – If you save room for dessert, it will be well worth your while! The Chocolate Extinction is the one that will catch your eye…it’s the one with steam coming out the center like a smoking volcano! It’s pricey, but it’ll be big enough for your whole family (and then some!) and you get a souvenir cup to take home.

So go ahead and have an adventure everyone can enjoy at the T-Rex Cafe. Reservations are recommended because of the high demand, but we’ve always gone early (around 5:30) and been seated within 15 minutes. All in all, we love the T-Rex Cafe and hope you will too!
