7 Things We Love About Tony’s Town Square Restaurant in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom

Tony's Town Square

If you’re looking for a nice place to eat in the Magic Kingdom, where you actually stand a chance at getting a reservation (unlike Be Our Guest), then take a look at Tony’s Town Square. This restaurant is tucked away and has something both adults and children will love.

7. The Food

Tony’s has something for just about everyone in your party. From pizza to pasta to New York strip steak. Picky eaters and those looking for a more interesting experience will both find something they will enjoy. You can even order the classic spaghetti and meatballs dish to share and recreate the iconic scene from Lady and the Tramp.

6. Dessert

After lunch or dinner you’ll just have to try the dessert. Gelato is available for something simple and cold or guests can order tiramisu or crème brulee. Top it off with a coffee or cappuccino and you’ve got the happy ending to your meal.

5. Hidden Paw Prints

True Disney fans know that Tony’s is modeled after the restaurant from the Lady and the Tramp film, but did you also know you can find a set of Lady and Tramp’s footprints right outside the building? Next time you’re there, check the sidewalk in front of the restaurant for a sign the couple was there earlier and drew a heart around their paw prints before the cement hardened. Even guests who have been here many times tend to miss it.

4. Entertainment While You Wait

When checking into Tony’s, you’ll usually be asked to wait for a bit, even if you made a reservation. While you wait, you’re treated to a few entertainments. One is the lounge area where guests can watch the Lady and the Tramp movie. The other, on select days and evenings, is an accordion player who walks around the lounge playing songs dedicated to guests. If he notices it’s a special occasion, such as a birthday or anniversary, he may play something extra special just for you.

3. Outdoor Seating

Florida’s weather can be unpredictable in terms of how much it will rain and how often. But on those nice warm days and evenings, it’s the perfect opportunity to take advantage of the outdoor seating available. The outdoor patio faces the entrance to the park where you can see guests greeting characters and may even catch the Move It! Shake It! Dance and Play It! Parade. If you’re seated just before 5pm, you can also watch the flag retrieval ceremony performed every day as the American flag is lowered.

2. The Location

In being tucked away near the entrance of Main Street, Tony’s gets passed over by Disney World guests who tend to rush right past it to get to the castle. Because not everyone knows it’s there, it can be easier to get a reservation here than Be Our Guest or Crystal Palace which are more in the open. The restaurant is also located right next to two big meet and greets. One is Mickey Mouse, who actually talks to guests, and the other is Tinker Bell. Either before or after your meal, stop by and visit these characters since you’re right there. If you feel like skipping dessert, you can head over the Confectionary on Main Street just a short walk away and get something sweet there.

1. The Theme

While Lady and the Tramp isn’t the most widely marketed Disney film, compared to the princess movies, it’s still a fan favorite. Not only does the restaurant have the same name as the one the couple dines at in the movie, but you can find pictures of the dogs throughout the restaurant. There’s also a statue of Lady and Tramp and sometimes gets decorated for the holiday season. It has a definite Disney feel to it without being an overwhelming in-your-face feeling.

Tony’s Town Square is great for families and those who want their Italian fix in the Magic Kingdom. Reservations are needed and can be made up to 180 days in advance if you’re staying on Disney property.
