Our 8 Favorite Places to Shop at Disney

Even if you aren’t a shopaholic, everyone enjoys a great vacation souvenir. Disney has plenty of retail locations where you can satisfy your search for the perfect gift (for yourself, or someone else). Listed here are some fabulous shopping spots to check out at and around Disney World.

1. The Emporium

Located in the Magic Kingdom, the Emporium consumes nearly the entire left side of Main Street, U.S.A. as you approach Cinderella’s Castle. This giant shopping location has a lot going for it. First, it’s a great place to duck in and out of if you are trying to navigate Main Street at a particularly busy time. The entire length of the store is connected, so you can walk through the store instead of on the busy street (especially useful if trying to exit the park during a parade). While you’re in there, you’ll find it impossible to resist the variety of goods in the store. In addition to having an incredible selection of general Disney merchandise, the store has a nice “old-timey” feel to it.

2. Mouse Gear

Another retail giant at Walt Disney World is Mouse Gear. This shop is located in the Future World section of Epcot and is a truly massive, 25,000 square-foot wonderland of goodies. Mouse Gear carries an eclectic assortment of merchandise, ranging from clothing and accessories to Vinylmation and pins. I always find something interesting in this store!

3. World of Disney

If you’re looking for a one-stop shopping experience, definitely take a trip to the World of Disney store at Downtown Disney. This store is the biggest Disney store you’ll ever set foot in. Each room features a different type of item, ranging from housewares, to fine jewelry and handbags, to clothing (one section each for men, women, boys, and girls), to collectibles and ornaments, to toys and plush animals, to princess gear. Also at the World of Disney is one of the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique locations, where your little one can have a full prince or princess makeover. Be warned, you need a reservation!

If you’re into pin trading, I highly recommend coming to the World of Disney store just for that purpose. There are so many Cast Members in the store that you’re bound to find many quick, convenient trade opportunities all in one place.

4. Disney’s Days of Christmas

Disney’s Days of Christmas is also located at Downtown Disney. Although many Disney shops sell Christmas ornaments, you’ll want to stop here if you are looking for the perfect new addition to your holiday tree. The selection is unbelievable! The shop even offers customization on certain ornaments.

5. Disney Outfitters

Fans of animal print, rejoice! Be sure to stop by this great shop in Animal Kingdom. In addition to selling some general Disney merchandise, this shop features a wide variety of items with animal print flair. They also sell some nice sun hats and accessories, as well as African items such as baskets and masks.

6. Villains in Vogue

While not a huge shop, the Villains in Vogue store carries merchandise that specifically celebrates our favorite villains! Need an Evil Queen shirt? Maleficent horns? You’ll find them here. The store also has a decent stock of Nightmare Before Christmas merchandise.

7. Mitsukoshi Department Store (World Showcase, Japan)

Shopping all throughout the World Showcase is a fun thing to do, but this store is particularly memorable. The Mitsukoshi Department Store is a very unique store that showcases Japanese products, many of which are pop-culture favorites. This store has something to delight every member of your party, from traditional clothing and scarves, to jewelry, to “pick a pearl” oysters. Do you want to be up to your eyeballs in Hello Kitty, Pokémon, and Nintendo products? You’ve come to the right place. There’s even a sake tasting bar in the shop.

8. Character Warehouse (Disney Outlet Store)

If you happen to have time and a car, consider a trip to the Character Warehouse. No, I’m not referring to the wildly-painted corner shops that advertise “Shirts $5! Park tickets cheap!” These are actual official Disney outlets that offer merchandise at extremely discounted prices. They carry a lot of apparel from last year, but you can even find things that are currently in the gift shops. One is located at the Orlando Premium Outlets at International Drive. The other, located at the Orlando Premium Outlets on Vineland Ave., is even closer to Walt Disney World.

Shopping sure is abundant in Walt Disney World! What are your favorite spots to score the perfect souvenir?
