5. Check School Calendars
If your schedule allows, plan your Walt Disney World vacation while Orlando (Orange County), New York and Boston public schools are IN session. Crowds are much lighter and deals are better. Check each of the city’s school calendar and try to avoid dates when these major city schools are on break. Also be aware that WDW hosts major events throughout the year like the WDW Marathon and cheerleading competitions that can affect crowds and pricing. Be sure to check Disney’s special events page before booking.
4. Christmas time is the best time
Avoid the parks on the week of Christmas due to the insane number of people and instead book your trip during the 1st Monday after Thanksgiving till the 2nd week of December. These are my favorite times to visit WDW for good reason. All the Christmas decorations are up and Disney is in full holiday regalia! Kids are still in school so crowds are real light and prices are at the lowest of the entire year. Also, don’t miss Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party on select dates during this time.
3. Epcot’s International Food & Wine Festival
Epcot’s International Food & Wine Festival takes place from mid September through mid November, but you can maximize the magic and the savings if you book your trip between the 3rd week in September till 2nd week of October. These dates are key because Food & Wine is in full swing, PLUS you get the added bonus of visiting while Halloween decorations are up! I love these dates because I can save a ton of money by avoiding pricey dinner reservations and instead sample the tapas size portions from the many food kiosks stationed around World Showcase. At only $4 or $5 a piece, you can try a little bit of everything while not breaking the bank.
2. Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival
The last week of March to the 3rd week of April is a great time to visit WDW. Not only are prices reasonable, crowds relatively light and Epcot’s gardens are in full bloom. A great perk for visiting during this time is that like the Food and Wine Festival, Flower & Garden now offers food kiosks around world showcase and FREE live music!

1. Book Dining Reservations online
You best choice for booking dining is through the Disney World dining website. Search the restaurant of your choice by trying each of the dates of your stay with the number of people in your party. If no seating is available try increasing the number of people in your party. Because of the way Disney’s booking system is designed, you may not be able to get a table for 1 or 2, but you might find availability for a table for 4. Book that table and then get on the phone right away to Disney dining and have them adjust the number of people in your parties reservation to the correct number of people and you are all set! Disney dining can always downgrade the number of people in your party but not upgrade the number of people unless of course there is availability. Be aware though, Disney requires a credit card number to book your dining reservations and will charge a penalty fee per person if you miss the reservation or show up with less people than your booked for so be sure to adjust the number of people in your party right away.
