Did You Know You Could Do These 10 Things At Walt Disney World Resorts?

When you think of Walt Disney World, what comes to mind? Maybe your first thought is of the Magic Kingdom and the iconic Cinderella Castle. Possibly you envision Spaceship Earth at Epcot or dining in World Showcase. If you’ve stayed at a Disney resort hotel, maybe you have fond memories of the Contemporary, the Wilderness Lodge or Pop Century. There is so much to do at Disney World outside of the theme parks. Many guests are unaware of these things. Here are 10 things to do at Disney resorts that you may not now are available for your family.

1) Fishing – Guided catch-and-release outings let you experience bass fishing at its finest, all year round! Whether you’re a seasoned sportsman or an amateur angler, a guided fishing excursion is fun for guests of all ages. Perhaps you prefer dockside fishing, the old-fashioned way in well-stocked waters. For traditional cane-pole fishing, visit the Fishin’ Hole at Old Man Island at Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside resort. Fishing is available at most Magic Kingdom area and Epcot area hotels also. 2) Spas – A Disney vacation can often be exhausting! Treat yourself to some relaxation at one of the Disney resort spa centers. Spa services are offered at Disney’s Grand Floridian resort and Disney’s Saratoga Springs resort. Services include facials, massage treatments, body therapies and nails. 3) Afternoon Tea – At Disney’s Grand Floridian resort, you can step through time to experience a traditional afternoon tea, served in grand British style. At the Garden View Tea Room, prepare to treat yourself to a rare and unforgettable event as you indulge in the relaxing ambience of long ago. Tour the globe as you sip from a collection of international teas, including Mrs. Potts Tea for your little ones, all while indulging in a delightful selection of sandwiches, scones, pastries and other delicacies. 4) Boating – How about renting a boat from one of the Walt Disney World Resort hotels and cruising around property? You can enjoy lazy afternoons on a pontoon boat and exhilarating zips around on a speed boat, all while taking in sights like the Magic Kingdom and the surrounding hotels.

5) Movies under the stars – Complimentary movie showings are available to guests of Walt Disney World Resort hotels. Whether on the beach, poolside or surrounded by woodlands, enjoy relaxing evening entertainment that’s fun for the whole family! 6) Chip ‘N’ Dale’s Campfire Sing-A-Long – At the Wilderness Campgrounds, you can roast marshmallows, sing songs and share hugs with Chip ‘n Dale! Bring your own marshmallows and sticks, or purchase a s’mores kit from the Chuckwagon Snack Bar. After you enjoy the gooey goodness, sing along to old-time favorites led by a guitar-playing cowboy, as Chip ‘n Dale visit for photos, autographs, smiles and fun.

7) Starlight Safari – Climb aboard a sturdy, open-sided safari vehicle, and feel the rush of night air as you rumble through lush scenery, scanning the horizon for over 30 species of African wildlife. To make the most of your animal viewing extravaganza, guests are provided with night vision goggles. You’ll be astounded by what you can see: zebras, giraffes, gazelles, wildebeest and antelopes—plus flamingos, ostriches and over 20 other exotic African species that freely roam across the savannas at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. 8) Jogging – You don’t have to forego your exercise routine while vacationing at Disney. Jogging paths are available at many of the Disney resort hotels. Jog or walk while enjoying the beautiful landscaping at resorts such as Pop Century, Coronado Springs, Caribbean Beach, Wilderness Lodge and Campgrounds, the Epcot resorts and the Magic Kingdom resorts. 9) Golf – Walt Disney World sports several different golf courses and two mini-golf complexes. 18-hole courses are located near the Grand Floridian resort and Saratoga Springs resort. 10) Lounges – For the adults in your group, relaxing lounges are available at several of the Disney resort hotels. You can choose from Trader Sam’s at the Polynesian, Rix Lounge at Coronado Springs resort, Mizner’s Lounge at the Grand Floridian and several others. Fun for the whole family can be found at the Yeehaw Bob show at The River Roost Lounge at Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside resort.
