When you book a vacation package through the Walt Disney World website, there are many options to add onto a simple room reservation. Typically, families book a “Magic Your Way” package, which can include tickets and a standard or deluxe dining plan in addition to your hotel room. But a lucky few with the financial means will be able to book the Premium or Platinum Packages. These include dozens of delectable meals options, as well as a bevy of other perks! Let’s take a closer look at everything these packages include.

Magic Your Way Premium Package

1. Food

The Premium Package includes three meals per person for each day of your vacation. These meals can be counter or table service based on your preferences for each individual meal. There are also two snacks per person per day, as well a resort refillable mug. This mug can be used for unlimited fountain drinks at any resort hotel quick-service location for the entire length of your stay.

2. Tours

The Premium Package entitles guests to UNLIMITED admission to certain special tours. I personally think this is one of the greatest perks of these more expensive packages. Some of the tours that are offered would be considered “backstage” tours (no children permitted) while others are completely family friendly! There is at least one tour offered in each of the four theme parks. There are four tours offered in the Magic Kingdom and three tours in Epcot, with a fourth tour offered seasonally.

3. Recreation

There are many recreational activities available at Walt Disney World that many people don’t even know about, including archery, horseback riding, parasailing, water skiing, and boating. These are included in the Premium Package on an unlimited basis! You are also offered unlimited use of golf facilities (including golf lessons), miniature golf at either of the miniature golf locations, and guided fishing excursions. There is also a single admission to the Richard Petty Junior Ride Along Experience included in each reservation. This is an opportunity for a child between the ages of 6 and 13 to ride in a Nascar-style stock-car with a professional driver.

4. Entertainment

Each person on a Premium Package reservation is entitled to attend one showing of Cirque du Soleil – La Nouba in Downtown Disney. Guests with Premium Package reservations are also given preferred viewing for fireworks displays.

5. Child Care

One perk of the Premium Package is unlimited use of Disney’s Children’s Activity Centers for each child on the reservation aged 3-12 years old.

Magic Your Way Platinum Package

The Platinum Package includes everything in the Premium Package, plus some additional recreational activities and entertainment.

1. Richard Petty Ride

Along Experience – one adult, age 14 or older, may participate in this 3-lap ride-along with a professional driver in a stock car.

2. Characters in Flight

Each person in your party is entitled to fly high above Downtown Disney in this tethered hot-air balloon!

3. Fireworks Cruise

Each person in your party is entitled to one specialty cruise to view either Wishes or IllumiNations. Wishes cruises depart from The Grand Floridian and IllumiNations cruises depart from Yacht Club Resort.

4. Spa Treatments

Each person in your party age 12 and older is entitled to one 50 minute massage or facial, or a manicure and pedicure.

5. Private In-Room Babysitting

In addition to the unlimited use of Children’s Activity Centers, Platinum Package guests may utilize “in-room” babysitting services provided by a third party vendor. There is a maximum of 6 hours for the in-room child care option.

Platinum Package reservations also entitle visitors to what Disney calls “Personalized Pre-arrival itinerary planning”. This is Disney speak for having someone make all of your reservations for you, including those for dining, Fastpass+, and any of the other recreational activities included in your package.

SO WHAT DOES IT COST?

Just to give you an idea of the cost of these packages, let’s compare the price of a “Magic Your Way” vacation package with Deluxe Dining verses the cost of a “Platinum Package”.

A seven night stay at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort for a family with two adults and two children, including 5 days of park tickets (no hopper) and deluxe dining (three table service meals and two snacks per person per day) will cost approximately $6900 (mid-November 2014).

By comparison, the same vacation with the “Platinum Plan” option would cost approximately $11,100. That’s a whopping $4200 price difference.
