Have You Experienced These 15 Things At Magic Kingdom? We Think You Should!

Disney’s Magic Kingdom is a place where you can escape reality and enter a world of fantasy, even if it’s just for a day. There is magic around every corner and there is a lot to take in. Here are 15 you must do at Magic Kingdom, at least once, in your lifetime:

15. Keys To The Kingdom Tour

This five-hour long walking tour will take you behind the scenes of this iconic park, provide you with history on the man behind the dream and uncover secrets of the most magical place on earth. This tour is truly for the Disney die-hard, and costs $79 per person.

14. It’s A Small World

Though most avoid this ride so that the super catchy song doesn’t get stuck in their head, this is definitely a must do at least once in your lifetime! This is a beautiful tribute to the world we live in and a wonderful reminder that the world really is small and we should all be kind to one another. It’s visually stunning, colorful and a great way to escape the Florida heat!

13. Carousel of Progress

One of the only rides in Walt Disney World that Walt had a hand in creating, the Carousel of Progress is a classic. This ride first premiered at the 1964 New York’s World Fair. It was then placed in Disneyland before moving to its permanent home in Tomorrowland. This attraction explores the journey of going through the 20th century when advances in electricity and technology were well under way. I have actually come to love this ride because it’s a reminder that there is “a great big beautiful tomorrow, shining at the end of every day!”

12. Watch Wishes From A Different Vantage Point

Just like the majority of people, I love watching Wishes from Main Street because nothing beats a picture of the castle with fireworks filling the air behind it. However, there are so many other great places to watch Wishes from! One day, find a new spot to watch the fireworks and see how different it looks from a new vantage point! The great thing is that the soundtrack plays pretty much everywhere in the park, so you’ll still get the full effect! My suggestion? Outside of Be Our Guest or outside of Gaston’s Tavern!

11. Watch The Kiss Goodnight

About 10-15 minutes after the park closes, beautiful music fills the hub area surrounding the castle as a warm voice thanks you for visiting the Magic Kingdom. The castle turns different colors as beautiful voices sing to send you on your magical way. Hang around after the park ‘closes,’ pick a spot on the hub grass and take in the magic one last time before heading home!

10. Visit During The Fall and Winter

Magic Kingdom is beautifully decorated during the fall and winter, and everyone should see it at least once! Fall brings Mickey pumpkin wreaths, scarecrows and fall foliage. The orange, red and brown look even prettier during sunset. Winter brings garlands, wreaths and pretty shades of red and green. Be sure to get tickets for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party so you can experience the décor and magic in its entirety, and you can get special merchandise, too!

9. Have A Dole Whip Float

If you have never had this tasty treat, you’re missing out! Head to Adventureland and get yourself a dole whip float—pineapple soft serve in pineapple juice. It’s delicious, refreshing and one of the best snacks Magic Kingdom has to offer!

8. Meet Gaston

This is easily one of the best meet and greets across Disney property. Gaston may be very into himself, but he loves meeting and entertaining guests outside of his tavern in New Fantasyland. His line usually closes pretty early, so be sure to grab a times guide and find out when he’s meeting. If you miss the cut off, stand around and watch the interactions anyway—they’re always hilarious!

7. Arrive Early Enough To Watch The Welcome Show

Every morning about 10-15 minutes to park open, your favorite Disney characters arrive on the Walt Disney Railroad to welcome you to the Magic Kingdom for a day filled with fun, magic and fantasy. You may have to leave your hotel earlier than normal, but it’ll be well worth it!

6. Dine At Cinderella’s Royal Table

This $70 per person experience is worth it, at least once. Dine inside the castle for either breakfast or dinner with Cinderella and her princess friends! Begin your time in the castle by walking upstairs to Cinderella who will greet you. You will then sit down at your table and enjoy a three-course meal as princesses come and visit with you at your table. If you have dinner, time it so you can watch Wishes from inside the castle!

5. Watch Every Show/Parade

One of the best things about Disney is the entertainment, and Magic Kingdom has plenty of entertainment offerings that you must see at least once. The Trolley Show, The Dapper Dans, Dream Along With Mickey, Disney’s Festival of Fantasy Parade, Main Street Electrical Parade, Celebrate The Magic and Wishes are all worth a watch. And, during special event parties for Halloween and Christmas, you get to see different themed parades and fireworks displays!

4. Ride The Mountains

You have to ride Space Mountain, Splash Mountain and Thunder Mountain at least once! Each coaster offers a different experience, and each one is wonderfully themed and will probably keep you coming back time and time again.

3. Make A Wish In The Wishing Well

Cinderella’s Wishing Well is a little hidden gem in Magic Kingdom, which sits to the left of the backside of the castle. Not only can you make a wish (and mine has come true before!), but you can also get a gorgeous picture with the side of the castle as the background.

2. Take A Photo On Main Street

There is nothing more iconic than Cinderella Castle, and everyone should have a picture with it in the background! Though I do love the up close shots by the Partner’s Statue, nothing beats a family photo on Main Street with the castle providing the most beautiful background. Bonus points if you get into the park early enough to not have a huge crowd in your shot!

1. Meet Mickey Mouse

You must meet the mouse that started it all at least once, if not multiple times, in your lifetime! He greets guests in Town Square Theater and, because of the pixie dust his neighbor, Tinker Bell, sprinkled on him, he can even talk to you!

Some of these are classics and some you may have never even considered! Getting to do park favorites and also find magic in new experiences will enhance your trip to Magic Kingdom every time you go.
