Rumor: A New Wreck-It-Ralph Attraction Coming To Tomorrowland ???

Sugar Rush

This great Disney rumor comes to us from WDW News Today and the latest Unofficial Guide’s Disney Dish podcast is that Stitch’s Great Escape will be removed in favor of a VR racing game Wreck-It Ralph attraction based on “Sugar Rush”

If this wonderful rumor is to be believed, the theaters inside Stitch’s Great Escape would be overhauled to make room for simulator based racing carts where guests could board wearing virtual reality headsets that would transport them into the video game world of Wreck-It Ralph. It would be ever cooler if park guests could have the opportunity get to design their cars in the pre-show area, like the latest update to Test Track.

The best guess is that guests will be racing virtually with Ralph and Vanellope inside the arcade game “Sugar Rush” or even inside the Magic Kingdom, itself!

This new ride would make sense with a sequel to Wreck-It Ralph in the works and the box office for the original film was quite strong worldwide.

Stitch’s Great Escape has been one of the least popular attractions in Disney history. One of the biggest complaints is the fact that guests were locked into their seat in the dark during part of the presentation.

5 Things You Won’t Want To Miss in Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland

Magic Kingdom is home to 6 themed lands. Each has its own personality and attractions for you to enjoy. Since Disney is releasing “Tomorrowland” in just about a month, we figured we would reflect on that area of the Magic Kingdom and pick out the top five things not to miss on your next trip there!

5 – Carousel of Progress – this rotating, circular theatre located in the back of Tomorrowland is one of the few remnants that has Walt’s DNA attached to it. The attraction features several vignettes focusing on man’s advance through the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Debate seems to be divided on the attraction; some people absolutely enjoy it, hum (or sing) along with “There is a Great, Big, Beautiful Tomorrow,” and appreciate the opportunity to sit down, get out of the sun, and relax. Others find it to be terribly outdated, a bore, and taking up prime real estate that could be used for a more exciting attraction.

Regardless of public opinion, Carousel of Progress deserves the loyalty of guests. The makeup of Disney World is constantly changing and while we are reminded quite often that “it all was started by a mouse.” While this is true in relation to bankrolling the construction of the parks, it all started with Walt Disney. His unique vision brought to all of us the the amazing attractions, characters, and experiences – high on that list is his Carousel of Progress. It rarely has a line, so make sure that you check it out on your next visit!

4 – Tomorrowland Transit Authority – located on the second level of Tomorrowland, the Tomorrowland Transit Authority (TTA) is another oft-overlooked attraction. Guests sit in a train of cars that are pulled around on a track throughout Tomorrowland. The TTA offers some amazing views of Tomorrowland and also takes you inside of Space Mountain offering a whole new experience.

Try and ride the TTA at night during fireworks and you will get (temporarily) a very unique view of the show. Again, much like Carousel of Progress, this attraction rarely has much of wait and it is very easy to ride a couple of times around so you are able to relax and rest your feet!

3 – walking path to Fantasyland – all of the theme parks are replete with small alcoves and nooks for you to explore. One of my favorite is the “secret” path located between the Tomorrowland Speedway and the exit of Space Mountain. The path meanders around and gives you view of the backside of the Tomorrowland Speedway.

The path is slightly ruined considering that one of the smoking areas is located off of this path, but it would not surprise me to see smoking being completely banned in the parks soon. The path also features a dog walking area for those guests who have assistance dogs. The path terminates in the Storybook Circus area of Fantasyland near the Barnstormer and by the Fantasyland Train Station.

2 – food – Tomorrowland is home to two great food locations! The first is Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café. This counter-service restaurant features traditional theme park fare (burgers and hot dogs), but also features some unique options – rotisserie chicken, BBQ pork sandwiches, and ribs! In addition to the vast selection of food, you can also enjoy the musical stylings of Sonny Eclipse! It is a great counter service venue with seating available that is overlooked because of its location.

The second dining location worth checking out in Tomorrowland is the Lunching Pad. While more of a snack stand, the Lunching Pad (located directly below the TTA and Astro Orbiter), features a bevy of frozen carbonated beverages – the perfect way to cool down during a hot day in the park, as well as my personal favorite Disney World snack – the Mickey pretzel! You can also get hot dogs there during the day!

1 – Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor – I was skeptical the first time this attraction was suggested by my soon to be mother-in-law, but it offers a great combination for the entire family. This “live” show features Sam and Ella, Buddy Boyle, Mike and Marty Wazowski, and, of course, Roz. Cast members voice these characters and are able to improvise to create a unique comedy show every 15 minutes. Audience members quickly become part of the show. I’ve been “forced” to break out in dance before the show began. My soon to be father-in-law has been offered up to buy everyone churros after the show. And my fiancée has had her mind read.

The show follows the same formula every show, but each show is distinct and is always funny. It is a must-do for my family. Much like a lot of attractions on this list, it is rare that you have to wait longer than one show before you can get in. There are plenty of seats and air-conditioning. You may even be lucky enough to participate in the show or to be chosen as “that guy.”

Tomorrowland is often equated with Space Mountain since it is the signature thrill ride there, but there is so much more to see, enjoy, and explore in Tomorrowland. Check all of these out the next time you are there! What is on your list of things not to miss at Tomorrowland?
