The 6 Bars and Lounges on the Resort Loop That You Have To Experience

Tambu Lounge

This past weekend, I was visiting Walt Disney World for a friend’s 40th birthday, so we decided to go beyond what we normally do when visiting the parks and we added “Resort Loop Bar Hopping!” It was a great change-up to our normal touring plans and is definitely something you should do at least once!

6 – Citrico’s Lounge – located on the second floor of the Grand Floridian, Citrico’s is a restaurant that offers American and Mediterranean specialties. The lounge is on your left as you walk into the restaurant. The menu offers a diverse selection of wines and beer, as well as specialty cocktails. The location offers great views of the Grand Floridian Resort to enjoy while you enjoy your drink. The lounge also offers small plates if you need something to snack on during your bar hopping!

5 – The Tambu Lounge – located at the Polynesian Village Resort, the Tambu Lounge has a delicious cocktail menu for you to sample. The signature cocktail is the Lapu Lapu, a sinfully delicious pineapple drink that you can get served in an actual pineapple! I sampled the Backscratcher which was also great! There is a small snack menu if you desire anything to much on here as well. It is a small area and its location at the front of Ohana does make it fill up, so try getting there early if you want a place to sit!

4 – Narcoossee’s – located on the Seven Seas Lagoon at the Grand Floridian, Narcoossee’s serves very inventive and fantastically delicious seafood at a very reasonable price. Any entrée here can be enjoyed while seated at the bar at this restaurant. There is a wide selection of drinks for anyone’s palette and the views are second-to-none. If you get a late seating at Narcoossee’s, you can also enjoy the Electric Water Pageant and then take a relaxing boat ride from the Grand Floridian docks to the Polynesian and then off to the Magic Kingdom!

3 – The Outer Rim – this lounge area is located at the Contemporary right next to the entrances for Chef Mickey’s and the Contempo Café. You can grab a seat either at the bar or at one of the comfortable seats next to the windows overlooking the pool and Bay Lake. The location felt a little cramped because of its placement, but that is quickly forgotten once you have a drink in hand and you are enjoying the view. They also offer a great spicy cocktail nut mixture to snack on with your drink. I only wish the windows at the Outer Rim were a little cleaner so the view would have been more enjoyable.

2 – Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto – the newest addition to the lounges at the resort loop hotels, Trader Sam’s has a vast selection of specialty cocktails and delicious bar bites menu. Each drink has an amazing presentation and most can come with some keepsake for you to take home. Since it is so new, Trader Sam’s is still very popular, so it can be difficult to get in during peak times, so plan accordingly! We were not able to get in on our bar hopping, but I have heard great reports from other friends and the menu and pictures look very appealing!

1 – The Wave Lounge – when I first researched the lounges for our trip, I was not at all enthusiastic about this choice, but it ended up being my favorite. The bar was near empty when we arrived around 11:15 PM after Magic Kingdom closed, but our bartender was enthused and very funny in dealing with the three of us. He made WONDERFUL drink selections and also improvised on the Banana Martini with a muddled banana! Even though we were exhausted, this was the only lounge we got a second round at and we were all a fan of the Sriracha cream cheese dipping sauce for the warm pretzel sticks they offer on their bar bites menu. If you do go, ask for Bo – he was our bartender and was truly fantastic!

While Disney is known for princesses and fantasy, the levels of theming extend into other realms at the resorts. Be sure to check out the various bars and lounges the resorts have to offer – you will not be disappointed and remember, a lot of them offer a small snack menu so kids can also come along before heading off to dinner. Disney does also offer in-room babysitting if you’d rather leave the kids behind for a parent’s evening, too! Have you tried any of these lounges? Which is your favorite?
