The Top 10 Things to Do in Liberty Square and Adventureland

When we visit the Magic Kingdom, we are hard-pressed to figure out where we want to go first. Do we make a dash to Frontierland to conquer two-thirds of the Magic Kingdom mountains? Or do we head to Fantasyland and tackle the headliner attractions that will have unbearable queues by mid-morning? Rarely, however, do we have any thoughts about heading directly to Liberty Square or to Adventureland since we are always able to tackle them later in the day. Even though we head there later on, there are many, many things you need to do when visiting Liberty Square and Adventureland – here is our top ten list of the things you need to do!

10 – Interesting Show – whether your touring plans involves just one or both of these lands, guests are sure to find a show that will delight! In Adventureland, guests can experience a Disney classic with the Enchanted Tiki Room, while guests touring in Liberty Square are able to take in Great Moments in America History with the Muppets – both are enjoyable breaks from walking around the park – we love the both so much, it is hard to pick a favorite!

9 – Character Interaction – guests are able to meet and greet with some of their favorite characters in either of these lands. In Liberty Square, guests can meet with characters from Mary Poppins and guests traveling throughout Adventureland may stumble upon the swashbuckling Captain Jack Sparrow or Aladdin and Princess Jasmine! Appearance times for these characters vary, so be sure to consult the Times Guide when you arrive in the park!

8 – Interactive Game – Liberty Square and Adventureland are home to two amazingly addictive interactive games! In Liberty Square, guests can sign up for and begin participating in the Sorcerer’s of the Magic Kingdom game where guests use spell cards to defeat different Disney villains at different portals throughout the park! Adventureland is home to these portals, but also another wildly popular game – A Pirate’s Adventure – Treasure of the Seven Seas. Here, guests will use a treasure map and clue cards to discover hidden treasure in Adventureland! Both are great add-ons to your day Magic Kingdom since you can begin and end these games at anytime!

7 – Unique Shopping – we love shopping for souvenirs in both of these lands. In Adventureland, we always will check out the Agrabah Bazaar to find something truly unique and exotic, as well as Island Supply Sunglass Hut for some stylish sunglasses! Over in Liberty Square, we split our time between Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe where we try and find the perfect keepsake to display on our trees or around our house during the holidays and Memento Mori which is the Haunted Mansion gift shop that has some out-of-this-world merchandise!

6 – Fireworks Viewing – while most people will head towards Main Street to watch the fireworks, both of these lands offer good views of the show as well. In Liberty Square, we like standing around the boarding area for the Liberty Belle Riverboat – we are still able to see the castle and see the fireworks in the background, plus it is much less crowded! In Adventureland, we like climbing through Swiss Family Treehouse and trying to catch as much of the show from an elevated position. This spot is definitely memorable and offers fantastic views!

5 – Counter-Service Dining – dining on the go offers many options for guests needing a quick meal. Adventureland is home to seasonal dining option Tortuga Tavern which has a variety of barbecue options on its menu. Liberty Square has a little more to offer guests with Sleepy Hollow Refreshments that offers waffles and other sweets to satiate your appetite. Guests needing something more substantial should head to the Columbia Harbour House which has a variety of land and sea options to choose from – we also love the second-floor seating overlooking both Liberty Square and Fantasyland!

4 – Tasty Treat – guests will find whatever they want to satisfy their sweet tooths in both of these lands – in Liberty Square, head to Sleepy Hollow Refreshments – guests can find fried dough, waffles, and ice cream! Adeventureland is home to two fantastic options – a Dole Whip from Aloha Isle and the Citrus Swirl from the Sunshine Tree Terrace – both options are so good, you may just decide that you want both!

3 – Table Service Options – maybe you want to take some time off and sit down and enjoy a delicious meal – guests can sit down at the Skipper Canteen in Adventureland and sample dishes with inspirations from around the world! Over in Liberty Square, guests can have a traditional Thanksgiving feast any day of the year at the Liberty Tree Tavern – make sure to bring your appetite since this meal is served all-you-care-to-enjoy!
