It’s time to say a sad goodbye to a Hollywood Studios icon: The Sorcerer’s Hat will be removed sometime in early 2015.

Today Walt Disney World spokesman Bryan Malenius confirmed that Hollywood Studios would be removing the iconic 122-foot-tall Sorcerer’s Hat early next year. It is unclear at this time if anything would take its place, or if the plan is to restore the once-clear view of the replica of Grauman’s Chinese Theatre.

It makes since that as the theme park crowds thin out after the New Year, the construction walls will rise. Renovation could begin as early as mid January 2015.

The Sorcerer’s Hat has stood in the center of Disney’s Hollywood Studios since 2001, when it replaced the Earful Tower as the theme park’s official icon.
