If you haven’t had the chance to visit Magic Kingdom in the past few years, you may not have seen the recent changes. Magic Kingdom has expanded Fantasyland into what is now called New Fantasyland. New rides, restaurants, and character meet and greets have all been added. The attention to detail that went into the making of New Fantasyland is incredible. Like nothing you’ve ever seen. Here are a few questions and answers that may have popped into your head in the past few months!

1. How do I get a reservation at Be Our Guest?

Be Our Guest is the newest restaurant to open in Magic Kingdom. During its lunchtime hours, it is quick service and you can wait in line to place your order, and then choose your seat. When dinnertime rolls around, it becomes table service and you must have a reservation to dine here. Reservations are really hard to snag, so I would recommend making yours 180 days in advance. I suggest doing this as soon as possible. You can call or make your reservations online. If you aren’t able to get your reservation, try everyday up until your trip. You may get lucky! Also, be flexible with your dates and time. If you still can’t get a dinner reservation, lunchtime is a great back up option. You get to see the dining rooms and the quick service food is actually really good.

2. So there are different rooms inside Be Our Guest?

Yes! Inside the Be Our Guest Restaurant, you will be transformed into the movie itself. You will find three different dining areas, The Ballroom, The Rose Gallery, and The West Wing. The ballroom is filled with beautiful floor to ceiling windows, and if you look close enough, you may even see a slight snowfall. If you choose the Rose Gallery, you will dine next to amazing portraits and a larger than life Beauty and the Beast music box. And finally, if the eerie West Wing is more your style, you will be welcomed by a giant portrait of the Beast as well as the ever famous enchanted rose. Each dining room has beautiful details that bring the movie to life and make your dinner more than just a normal dining experience.

3. Besides the new Be Our Guest Restaurant, are there any other sit-down restaurants in New Fantasyland?

Technically Cinderella’s Royal Table is located in Fantasyland as well. But as for new sit-down restaurants, Be Our Guest is the only one. But there are plenty of quick service options that offer snacks unique to New Fantasyland. Near Be Our Guest sits a small snack counter called Gaston’s Tavern. Here you will find delectable cinnamon rolls and a delicious contraption called LeFou’s Brew. You can also find fun carnival treats under the Big Top in Storybook Circus. So although there are no other new table service restaurants, New Fantasyland has plenty of food to offer.

4. What is LeFou’s Brew?

Chances are you have probably heard a little bit about LeFou’s Brew since the opening of New Fantasyland. Named after Gaston’s silly sidekick LeFou, LeFou’s Brew is a delicious and refreshing beverage found in Gaston’s Tavern. It’s basically frozen apple juiced with marshmallow flavoring and topped with passion fruit and mango cream. It’s perfect on a hot day and you can even get it inside a Gaston souvenir mug.

5. Can I get a Fastpass+ for the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train?

Yes! The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is the newest rollercoaster in Magic Kingdom. It’s both part indoor and outdoor attraction. Fastpass+ is available for this ride, but I highly suggest making your Fastpass+ as soon as you can, if you want your ideal date and time. Don’t wait until the day of, there may not be many options left. If you don’t happen to get a Fastpass, I wouldn’t rule out waiting in the standby line. The queue is done very beautifully with amazing details. There are also added games and such to make the wait more bearable. Moral of the story, this is one ride not to be missed!

6. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train really isn’t my speed, are there any rides in Fantasyland for guests who prefer slower rides?

With the New Fantasyland expansion, many new rides have been added. This includes Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, for thrill seekers, but also some slower rides as well. Besides the classics like, It’s a Small World, Peter Pan’s Flight, Prince Charming’s Regal Carrousel, and Winnie the Pooh, there are also a few new rides. Dumbo the Flying Elephant has been expanded and now has dueling Dumbo carrousels. Another newer ride is Journey of the Little Mermaid and is a slow, but dark ride that’s great for kids and adults alike. Also take the time to wander around Storybook Circus, you may find some new things to explore if you haven’t been in a few years.

7. Why is it called New Fantasyland now?

In 2010, Disney started the expansion and refurbishment of the former Fantasyland and transforming it into what they call, New Fantasyland. Mickey’s Toontown Fair has been permanently closed down and replaced by half of New Fantasyland, which is called Storybook Circus. Just about everything in this part if New Fantasyland is brand new. The second half is called Enchanted Forest. This is home to Be Our Guest as well as Enchanted Tales with Belle. If you haven’t visited Magic Kingdom in the past five years, you are in for a treat on your next visit!

Enchanted Tales with Belle is a retelling of the story of Beauty and the Beast narrated by Lumiere. Guests are chosen from the audience to participate and help tell the story. Once the story telling is over, you will have a chance to meet Belle and have your picture taken with her if you please.

9. Besides Belle, what other characters will I be able to meet in Fantasyland?

There are tons of character meet and greet opportunities all throughout Fantasyland. Disney gives you all the times and locations of each character on their website, so it makes planning easy. You can also look at the schedules on the My Disney Experience App. On most days you will be able to meet characters such as, Alice in Wonderland, Ariel, Fairy Godmother, Gaston, Merida, Winnie the Pooh and friends, Mickey and friends, and Cinderella and her visiting princesses at Princess Fairytale Hall. Although it may just be a bathroom, the details are incredible and the tower is another great focal point of New Fantasyland. Although this area does not include any new rides or attractions, it does make for some really nice photos.

So whether you are lucky enough to visit Magic Kingdom everyday or whether you can only visit every few years, Disney is changing every minute of every day. This can be a scary thought, but very exciting nonetheless. New Fantasyland is one of the more recent updates and it is truly a feast for the eyes!
