Tonga Toast

We all love Disney for their rides, entertainment, and overall magic, but their food also carries a special place in our hearts. There are certain meals, snacks, desserts, and treats that we all look forward to indulging in on our trips to the happiest place on earth because we can’t find hem anywhere else. While there are a plethora of options that would be perfect for this list, there are only ten slots, so here are ten foods we, and you should go crazy for at Walt Disney World!

10. Tonga Toast

Located inside the Polynesian Resort at Kona Café and Capt. Cook’s, Tonga Toast is a comfort breakfast food that will have your taste buds saying ‘Aloha’! Once I tried this unbelievable combination of sourdough bread stuffed with bananas, as well as deep-fried while generously covered with cinnamon sugar I knew I was hooked! Tonga Toast is Kona Café’s most popular entrée choice, and it’s no surprise to me because it is out of this world. This is a delicious way to start off your day, so be sure to check it out on your next trip!

9. Zebra Domes

One of my favorite (and must-do) desserts to have on my Disney trips are the zebra domes, located at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge at Boma, a sit-down buffet restaurant, and The Mara, a quick service location. Even if you aren’t staying at this resort, I guarantee you the time you take out of your schedule to pick up a few of these mousse filled, creamy chocolate domes will be well worth it. There is nothing like this anywhere else on property. The secret ingredient in these domes is Amarula Cream liqueur which offers a smooth caramel flavor. Whether you plan a dinner at Boma, or just want to snag a few domes at The Mara, you won’t regret checking these out!

8. Skip’s Mac and Cheese

Nestled in the jungle of Adventureland in the Magic Kingdom,
The Skipper Canteen offers guests an exotic place to indulge in. Their entrees include a variety of Asian, African, Latin, and American flavors that are sure to send your taste buds to heaven. One of the most popular dishes here is the Skip’s mac and cheese. This isn’t your ordinary mac and cheese though. Beneath the layers of oozing cheese, lies the Egyptian spiced ground beef with béchamel sauce. The infusion of beef to cheese is incredible and a must try on your next trip!

7. Mickey Waffles

Those that have sampled Mickey Waffles will tell you that you will never find a more fluffy and delicious waffle like this one anywhere! Mickey waffles are made with a special golden malt flour and are cooked to be the perfect shade of a warm brown! Topped off with some sweet syrup, and you’ve got Disney’s tastiest treat! These are only found at various restaurants in the parks and at the resorts. Leave some room in your belly to enjoy these delicious waffles on you next trip.

6. Dole Whips

Who doesn’t want to be taken to a tropical paradise? Simply grab a dole whip, close your eyes, and embrace the spirit of creamy frozen yogurt and a splash of Dole Pineapple juice. This combination is by far one of the tastiest treats I’ve ever had and they are quite popular at Disney World! I have never seen a short line for these because of their high demand. Next time you visit Adventureland in the Magic Kingdom or the Polynesian resort, be sure to try a Dole Whip!

5. The Grey Stuff

Be Our Guest is one of the most popular restaurants in Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom since it opened about 3 years ago. Here, you will find one of the most talked about desserts, the grey stuff. You can enjoy the famous grey stuff on a cupcake or on a chocolate shell. This cookie cream is decadent and absolutely delicious (if you don’t believe me, ask the dishes). If you can snag a reservation at this popular restaurant, be sure to order the dessert!

4. Cheddar Cheese Soup

Le Cellier in the Canadian pavilion of Epcot is one of the finest restaurants on the Walt Disney World property. They also serve their famous cheddar cheese soup that you won’t find anywhere else! If you love cheese, this is definitely not something you are going to want to miss out on. This cheesy soup is made with Moosehead beer and topped off with applewood smoked bacon. It’s no wonder this popular appetizer is a go-to for many Disney World guests!

This bread is served as a welcoming from the cast members to you and your family to the restaurant. This slightly sweet bread is served warm and is sure to put smiles across your entire table.

2. Turkey Legs

Turkey isn’t just for thanksgiving. At the Disney World Parks, turkey is offered all year round. Turkey legs are very well known at the happiest place on earth because of their large size (approximately 1 foot long), and over 2.5 million pounds of them are sold yearly! There are several stands that sell these iconic turkey legs. They are very juicy and enough to share with a couple of people or you can skip the sharing and just selfishly treat yourself!

About Natalie

Natalie is an elementary school teacher and a native Floridian who lives and breathes all things Disney. Her love for Disney started at the age of two during her first visit, and has continued to flourish into her adult life. She loves to share her Disney passion with her students and believes Disney is so special because there is no other place to forget about your worries and be a kid again, which is why she refuses to ‘grow up’.
