Top 10 Walt Disney World Meals for Your Bucket List

Crab cake

Guests travel from all over the world to experience all that Walt Disney World has to offer. They expect to be wowed by the attractions, shows, and meet and greets, but what about the food? When travelling to a theme park destination, itโ€™s not unusual to expect the most generic food options available. Walt Disney World, however, has broken the mold on what to expect from their โ€œparkโ€ food. Here is a list of the top ten on property meals for your Disney bucket list.

10. The Soda Shop

The Beaches and Cream Soda Shop is located at Disneyโ€™s Beach Club resort. This is a play on a classic soda shop and boasts great diner favorites like burgers and hotdogs. This stop, though, is known for its dessert. To start, order yourself a flavored fountain soda. My personal favorite is a Cherry Coke! For dinner I would recommend the Grilled Cheese and Tomato Bisque Soup. This is a twist on an all-time favorite and one that you wonโ€™t want to miss. The grilled cheese is crafted from a blend of six different cheeses giving it its own distinct flavor. They pair this sandwich with the perfect amount of tasty tomato bisque soup, great for dipping! To finish off the night rightโ€ฆdessert! The only dessert here fit for a true Disney Bucket list is The Kitchen Sink. This ice cream sundae is not alike to any you have ever had in your past. Encompassing many different ingredients like cupcakes, full size candy bars, multiple flavors of ice cream, one whole can of whip cream, and every other topping on the bar, it is sure to take up whatever room left in your stomach.

9. The Quick Stop

If you are looking for great food and not wanting to waste a lot of time, the quick stop for you is The Friarโ€™s Nook in the new fantasyland. Stroll on up and order Pot Roast Mac and Cheese with a Lemonade Slush. You may be thinking, Pot Roast on my macaroni and cheese? Gross. This is the most opposite thing, from gross, you can get! You get a generous portion of macaroni and cheese with a heaping scoop of the most tender, succulent, perfectly seasoned pot roast on property. When you start to mix together these two ingredients, the combination is mind blowing. With this dish coming out fresh and piping hot, wash it all down with an Odwalla Frozen Lemonade.

8. The Food Court

Looking for a food court with great food? Look no further, Art of Animationโ€™s Landscape of Flavors has all you could ever want. From classic favorites for breakfast, pasta bars, and Indian inspired dishes, this food court will have you booking your next vacation at this resort. With so many options on the menu to suit any palette, the bucket list item award goes to the Surf and Surf burger. Grab your tray and enjoy as you bite into a burger comprised of a full size, thick crab cake topped with friend shrimp on a house made bun with special sauce. Enjoy this taste of the sea with some of their house seasoned fries and some friends. This is a personal favorite for my family. If you are looking for something sweet when you are done, head on over to the gelato bar for dessert because, who doesnโ€™t love a little gelato?

7. The Buffet

When looking for a buffet on property, there are quite a few options. For the bucket list, though, Trailโ€™s End takes the cake. This restaurant has amazing food, but is also commonly known as the best value on property! Have you ever experienced the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue? Well, if you loved the food, did you know you can get it all at Trailโ€™s End for half or even less than half of the price? Trailโ€™s End shares a kitchen with the Hoop-Dee-Doo. Stroll on into The Trailโ€™s end and grab a plate or two, youโ€™ll need it for all of the food. Enjoy some comfort food like fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and a brown sugar maple ham that is to die for! Donโ€™t worry about what to get for dessert, they have plenty to choose from with cobblers, ice cream, and banana pudding to name a few.

6. The Fiesta

The San Angel Inn Restaurante is one of my favorite stops. Not only does it have spectacular food, but the atmosphere is amazing! Dine at twilight in the shadows of Mayan Ruins. There are tons of ways to start off this table service meal, but my suggestion is the Soupa Azteca which is a traditional tortilla soup. This soup is delicious topped with cheese and fried tortilla strips. For your main course it has to be the Combonacion Mexicana. This great sampler includes a steak, enchilada, fish taco, refried black beans, and guacamole. This is a great choice so that you get the most for your money and also get to try several things off of the menu. For dessert order the Pastel de Queso con Cajeta or, in English, homemade cheesecake with caramel sauce on top. It will not disappoint!

5. The Safari

If you are wanting a restaurant that is a bit out of the ordinary try out Sanaa. Sanaa is located at Disneyโ€™s Animal Kingdom Lodge and although it may not be on the top of everyoneโ€™s list, this is a great option for a meal outside of the parks. Enjoy dining with views of the savannah and flavors of Africa and India! For your appetizer there is only one true choice, the Indian style bread service. This appetizer is widely talked about and features your choice of three beds and accompaniments. For your main course the Potjie Inspired will have your taste buds in a happy place. Choose two entrรฉeโ€™s from the list to dine on, butter chicken and the spiced lamb are my personal recommendations. This is sure to give you a taste of the different flavors that are represented on this menu. If you still think you have a bit of room for dessert, go for the Shahi Tukra or Indian Bread Pudding to finish up this lavish meal.

4. The Pub

As far as park meals go, there is not a restaurant I love more than the Rose and Crown found in the UK Pavilion at Epcot. This is a great stop for food and atmosphere. Choose to eat inside with a traditional pub feel, or eat outside by the water and enjoy a nice breeze. The appetizer to choose here would be the Scotch Egg. The Scotch Egg is a prominent dish in the United Kingdom as a snack, but the Rose and Crown does it a bit differently. For Scotch Egg newbies and lovers alike, this is not an experience you will want to pass up. For your main course, go for the Shepherdโ€™s Pie. This is a traditional comfort food dish that will warm you from the inside out. I always order mine and ask them to add melted cheddar cheese on top. The mashed potatoes on top of this dish are some of the most delicious you will taste in your life. Pair those with the gravy covered ground lamb and vegetables and it is an experience that will leave you more than satisfied. Still have room for dessert? The Sticky Toffee Pudding is a crowd favorite, as well as, a cast member favorite!

3. The Feast

This restaurant will give you amazing food and entertainment. Restaurant Marrakesh is found inside the Morocco Pavilion at Epcot. This menu is extensive, offering many different flavors of Moroccan cuisine. Browse the menu and also enjoy the entertainment, they have live belly dancers inside. For your meal order the Taste of Morocco Royal Feast. This will give you a great sampling of different dishes from salad to braised chicken, roasted lamb to couscous with vegetables, there is enough food here to feed you and a friend. Donโ€™t worry about dessert, itโ€™s included on this one with your meal ending with an assortment of Moroccan pastries.

2. The Steakhouse

For my steak lovers I will point you towards the Yachtsman Steakhouse at Disneyโ€™s Yacht Club Resort. This is the perfect stop for a steak lover or even a couple trying to get away and have a quiet night alone. I will not recommend an appetizer here because itโ€™s built in. Your server will bring a basket of the best rolls you have ever had in your life! These rolls are delicious and seasoned with onions on top. Pair them with the salted butter and garlic and just try to control your reaction! For the main course I always order the 12 oz. Prime New York Strip Steak with the peppercorn brandy sauce. I will tell you that if you are a person who grabs the steak sauce when eating steak, forget it. This sauce is beyond amazing! It is paired with a twice baked potato with white cheddar cheese. For dessert spring for the Chocolate Peanut Cake. This cake is comprised of a layer of cake, a layer of peanut butter with pretzels in it, and a layer of chocolate icing, pair it with salted caramel gelato and dig in.

1. The Dock

Downtown Disney has undergone many changes and has officially gained the new name of Disney Springs. One of the changes to come along was a new eatery by the name of The Boathouse. I will just say that I saved the best for last. This is hands down the best seafood I have ever had along with some of the best service I have ever had. For the appetizer I highly recommend the Firecracker Shrimp. Shrimp covered with Sriracho Mayo and Shishito peppers creating an amazing flavor with a bit of a kick. For the entrรฉe course, sit back because if you are doing it bucket list style, you are about to order a lot of food. I highly recommend the Jumbo Lump Crab cake, it is delicious and has such a fresh and great taste and texture. Also order the Maine Lobster Mac and Cheese and a side order of truffle fries. The truffle fries are a great match to eat with the crab cake. The Lobster Mac and Cheese is amazing. It is a house made cheese sauce and you can tell. For dessert, if you have any room, order the Whisky Carmel Cornbread Cake. It is a refreshing finish to a fantastic and rich, filling meal!
