Top 10 Ways to Celebrate Your Birthday at Magic Kingdom

Disney Castle and Balloons

Two years ago, for the first time in my many Disney trips around the time of my birthday, I spent my actual birthday at the Magic Kingdom. It was by far the most magical birthday I’ve ever experienced. My husband laughed at the way I was acting like a big kid, and my kids thought I was the most fun mom ever. Disney is THE place to celebrate things, and birthdays are no exception! If you’re going to be at the Magic Kingdom on your birthday, here are 10 things you definitely want to do to celebrate:

10. Get to rope drop

Start the day by catching the show at rope drop. Wave big at the characters, smell the freshly baked goods on Main Street and appreciate the morning sun on the Castle. Watching the park come to life is the best way to start your celebration day!

9. Ride your favorite ride numerous times

If the Tea Cups are your favorite, ride them until you get so dizzy you can’t even walk. If you’re more of a roller coaster rider, hit the Mountains over and over. Maybe your favorite is the Carousel or Haunted Mansion. Whichever ride makes your heart flutter, hang out and try to set a personal record for how many times you can ride in a day!

8. Wear your birthday pin

Definitely don’t forget to wear your birthday pin! You can get one at the front desk of your resort or guest services at the park. It’s so much fun to have people tell you happy birthday all day. It makes you feel like Disney royalty. Sometimes cast members will give you special perks for wearing your birthday pin, and you’ll be surprised how many other guests will call out birthday greetings, too!

7. Meet your favorite character

Whether it be a princess or Winnie the Pooh, figure out where to meet your favorite character and go meet them. Get your picture made, get their autograph, and make a big deal out of it! Make a reservation for a character meal featuring some of your favorites to spend even more face time with the characters.

6. Get a birthday treat

The best part of birthdays are the cake, right? Head straight over to Main Street Confectionery and pick out whatever your heart desires – multiple times throughout the day! No one does extravagant sweet treats like Disney, and this is the place to find them.

5. Get Mickey ears embroidered

This is one of those quintessential Disney things you’ve just got to do! After you’ve gotten your birthday cupcake at the Confectionery, go next door to Le Chapeau and pick out an awesome pair of Mickey ears. Have them embroidered with your name in a fun font and wear them proudly all day.

4. Splurge on a great souvenir

Take a little extra cash to purchase a great souvenir to commemorate the birthday you spent at the Magic Kingdom. Maybe you’ve always wanted a particular piece of jewelry or luggage. Whatever you choose, splurge on something that will put you in the Disney spirit long after your trip is over.

3. Do something you’ve never done at the MK

Find something new that you have never experienced at the Magic Kingdom – maybe eat at a new restaurant, or ride something that you normally pass by. Having a new experience will make your day seem extra-special, even if you’ve been to the Magic Kingdom dozens of times.
