Top 8 Experiences For Your First Day At Walt Disney World’s EPCOT

Epcot

Disney vacations are exciting from start to finish, but nothing beats your first day at each park. EPCOT is a park that allows you to travel, whether it’s to the past, future or other countries. It is a large park and there’s so many things to experience that it can get a little overwhelming, so here are the top eight experiences you should do on your first day in the park!

8. Spaceship Earth

That large ‘golf ball’ that greets you as you enter the park isn’t just for show—there’s a slow moving ride in there, too! Journey back in time to see how we evolved over the years through communication and technology. It’s a fun history lesson and gets you out of the heat for a little while. You even get to create your future at the end!

7. The Seas Pavilion

I actually didn’t discover this until my fourth time at Epcot when my sister and I decided to ride The Seas with Nemo and Friends. Once you exit the ride, you are in the middle of a beautiful pavilion, which features a large aquarium with lots of sea creatures swimming about! It’s not only educational, but also unique and different from other Disney attractions.

6. Mission Space

Have you ever wanted to fly through space? Well, this ride gives you the chance to have a simulated experience traveling to Mars! You can either choose to experience it in low intensity or high intensity, but you will be inside an enclosed aircraft, so don’t ride if you have a fear of small, enclosed spaces!

5. Soarin’

This fan favorite is located in the Land Pavilion of EPCOT. This ride provides a simulated journey over California, complete with different scents as you fly over certain areas! This ride normally has at least an hour wait, usually longer, so a fastpass is definitely recommended.

4. Club Cool

This area, which is located right next to Starbucks, houses FREE, yes free, soda from various different countries! Sample soda from Italy, Greece, Japan and other countries as you cool down from the Florida heat. This area is often overlooked, but is my favorite hidden gem of EPCOT.

3. Test Track

This is the fastest ride in all of Walt Disney World and is a personal favorite of mine! You start off by designing your own car in the Chevrolet Design Studio. Next, you get to put your design to the test, four tests to be exact—capability, efficiency, responsiveness and power—as you sit, buckled in, in the sim-car. The best part? The power test, of course, which takes place outside and gets you up to 64.9mph!

2. Illuminations

This fireworks display, which takes place in the middle of the lagoon of the World Showcase, is a must see during your trip to Walt Disney World. It can be viewed at any spot in the World Showcase and is a true celebration of our earth. There’s even a globe that moves into the center of the lagoon and lights up and it spins around and has moving pictures displayed on.

1. World Showcase

Your first day at EPCOT will not be complete without a trip around the world! The showcase features 11 different countries, which each have plenty of food, drink and souvenir options for you to get the full experience. You can even enhance your experience by picking up a ‘passport’ at any merchandise location and getting it stamped every time you go to a new country.

EPCOT has a lot of different parts that make is as unique as it is, so don’t just stop at one day! Be sure to visit EPCOT another time during your visit so you can discover everything it has to offer.
