Top 8 Places To View ‘Wishes’ Show At Magic Kingdom

'Wishes' Show Magic Kingdom

It has been said that the Disney theme parks run on magic. That is clearly on display in the Magic Kingdom. Most nights during the year, the Magic Kingdom ends its day with “Wishes”, a nighttime spectacular with amazing fireworks, incredible lighting effects, a heartwarming musical score, and narration by Jiminy Cricket. This show could very easily be the highlight of your Disney vacation. Choosing a good spot to watch is important! Here are my top 8 best views.

8. Front and center – This area is specifically between Casey’s Corner/Main Street Ice Cream Parlour and the Partner’s statue. Any closer and you will miss some of the fireworks due to the castle in the foreground. Any further back and your line of sight is diminished due to the buildings on Main Street.

7. Crystal Palace fence – At the end of Main Street USA, on the left, is the beautiful Crystal Palace restaurant. In front of the restaurant is a walkway, bordered by a short fence. In the middle of this area, between the surrounding trees, you can get a nice, slightly off-center view of the show. Although this space is small, the advantage is no one can stand in front of you. Note: for the duration of 2014, construction walls in the Hub may block this area.

6. Wishes Dessert Party at the Tomorrowland Terrace – This spot was so good, Disney stole it! This is a separate ticket event with the advantage of a reserved spot. Before the show, you’ll be able to enjoy decadent dessert options and non-alcoholic drinks, without the big crowds. When the show starts, you can walk up to the fence to watch. The party costs $25.99 for adults and $13.99 for children ages 3 to 9. You can make reservations at 407-WDW-DINE, and pre-payment is required. Walk-ups are welcome if the dessert party is not sold out. Tip: a nearby spot with a similar view (and no charge) is the Tomorrowland bridge, between the hub and Tomorrowland.

5. Main Street – One of the best and most popular spots to watch the accompanying Main Street Electrical Parade is on Main Street USA. Since Wishes occurs almost immediately before or after, you can watch both from the same place. The advantage here is a quick exit back to your hotel after the show. The disadvantage is the heavy crowds in front of you. One toddler on dad’s shoulders can block your view.

4. Main Street USA Train Station – This is another place where you can watch both the parade and Wishes, without moving. Another advantage is that you are elevated and can enjoy people-watching before the show. Tip: this area fills up quickly, especially the few chairs available.

3. Ticket and Transportation Center boat dock – If you really want to beat the masses out of the park, consider this spot outside the Magic Kingdom. When the show is over, you’re already in the parking lot near your car. Plus, this spot gives you a panoramic view of the entire Magic Kingdom area.

2. Magic Kingdom Resort Hotel restaurants – How about enjoying a great meal or a relaxing drink while watching Wishes? The California Grill, atop the Contemporary Hotel offers stunning views of the show, in air conditioned comfort, as does Narcoossee’s at the Grand Floridian Resort. Visit the Top of the World Lounge at Bay Lake Towers for an up close view, just steps outside the Magic Kingdom.

1. Behind the Castle – Did you know you can watch the fireworks from behind Cinderella Castle? If you are bothered by large crowds, this is the place for you! Another advantage is easy access to rides and attractions on nights the Magic Kingdom is open late.
