The Ultimate Disney Vacation Checklist- 12 Things You Must Do Before You Go

Once you decide that you will be taking a Walt Disney World vacation, there are many things you must do before you leave. It can get stressful at times, but Disney has a way of making planning fun and easy.

12. Make Hotel Reservation

Disney has over 20 resorts to choose from. They are broken down into three categories, Deluxe, Moderate, and Value resorts. So settle on a budget, pick a resort that fits your family’s needs and style, and book your room!

11. Book Transportation Reservations

First and foremost, decide whether you will be flying or driving. If you are flying, decide whether you will be renting a car or using Disney transportation. If you don’t plan on renting a car, book Disney’s Magical Express, a complimentary bus service that will bring you to and from the airport.

10. Make Dining Reservations

Dining reservations at Disney fill up fast! You can begin booking 180 days in advance. Take advantage of that to assure you will get the reservations you want.

9. Buy Park Tickets

Once you decide on the number of days you will be visiting the parks, you can buy your tickets. Be sure to check out the Disney World website to explore all the park ticket options and prices.

8. Make Fastpass+ Selections

If you are staying on Disney property, you can make your Fastpass+ selections 60 days in advance. If you are not staying on property, you can make them 30 days in advance. You can make them online or on the My Disney Experience app.

7. Make Your Itinerary

Sit down with the whole family and write down what everyone wants to do. Plan where you’ll be eating, what parks you’ll be visiting on what day, and so on.

6. Customize Your Magic Bands

Before your magic bands are shipped, you have the opportunity to customize them. You can pick your color and enter your name. If you don’t customize them or confirm your shipping address, you will get plain gray that will be waiting for you at your resort.

5. Check Out Your Resort’s Activities

There is plenty of information on Disney’s website and on unofficial Disney websites about each and every resort. You can find out what activities will be going on in your resort during your stay. Pool games are always fun!

4. Make All Room Requests

Want a specific room in a specific location? Call ten days prior to your arrival and make all those requests. You can also make some requests online.

3. Take Advantage of Online Check-In

Disney World Resorts offer this lovely tool called Online Check-In. You can begin your online check-in 60 days prior to your arrival. Once you arrive at your resort, you can bypass the standard check-in line and go straight to the online check-in line. Which from there you receive your room number and you’re on your way!
