5. Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto

Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto is still a relatively new establishment, having opened back in 2015 on location at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. While primarily categorized as being a lounge, you’ll also find a pleasing variety of small plate pickings that reflect the South Seas the resort is themed after. The island enticements making up the menu here include kalua pork tacos, Hawaiian poke with Sriracha aïoli, corn-battered Portuguese sausages with curry ketchup, pan-fried dumplings with soy-sesame dipping sauce, headhunter sushi rolls, and roasted chicken and pork pâte báhn mì sliders, to name a few. And like any lounge, Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto boasts a wide range of libations. Discover paradise with one of many house specialty cocktails and concoctions, available in both alcohol and non-alcohol varieties. For those who have ever tasted the tropical tantalizations to be had at Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar out west in Disneyland, you can now enjoy all your favorites right here. Additionally, Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto presents a vast array of different beers, wines, and other spirits.

If you’re a fan of Disney’s Jungle Cruise attraction you are no doubt already familiar with Trader Sam—the infamous head salesman featured near the conclusion of the ride. The fact that he gets “ahead” by serving guests at his own lounge in addition to working diligently in Adventureland is a pretty amusing thought.
