Hiring the Disabled

The practice of most businesses to hire persons with disabilities is a tribute to the American spirit. There were, however, a group of despicable people who began the practice of hiring wheelchair bound persons to accompany them on their visit to WDW. Since WDW allowed guests in wheelchairs access to rides or attractions via a special entry with no wait time, these defrauders saw this as a way to avoid long lines. When this scheme was discovered by Disney, a new system called the Disability Access Service was instituted. Now guests with disabilities need to obtain an Access Card that will give them a return time, not instant access to rides or attractions. It is amazing what lengths people will go to just to avoid waiting in line.
