11 Reasons Why the Tambu Lounge at Disney's Polynesian Resort Is a Fan Favorite

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is oozing with charm and fun. Inspired by Walt Disney’s love of the South Seas, this resort is divided into sections representing tropical islands. The pool, restaurants, décor and architecture all tie in the incredible theme and transport guests to a tropical paradise. Tambu Lounge is a delicious and fun hangout in The Great Ceremonial House right on the monorail line that we love relaxing at on vacation.  This article counts down 11 reasons why Tambu Lounge is a fan favorite at Walt Disney World!

1. Resort Vibes

We look for any reason to hang out at The Polynesian Village Resort. No worries, even if you are not splurging and staying at this incredible Deluxe Resort, there are plenty of dining, shopping and hangout opportunities to enjoy the resort without the resort guest price tag. This resort feels like classic Walt Disney World, as it was one of original resorts on the property when Walt Disney World opened in 1971.

2. Convenient Park Proximity

Tambu Lounge is conveniently located right on the monorail line. Breaking from the Magic Kingdom heat to snag a cold drink in the delightful air conditioning of the resort is easy and does not involve a lot of additional planning and time. Once you arrive at the resort, Tambu Lounge is on monorail level in the rear of The Great Ceremonial House. Easy to find, this lounge is the perfect place for Disney newbies to check out and an easy location to meet friends for drinks.

3. Short Waits

Sure, crowd levels vary based on the time of year and the time of day you visit the lounge. However, it’s safe to say that wait times are generally much shorter here than at the fun and newer (but crowded) Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto downstairs. If you are looking for a place to enjoy a tropical drink and relax with minimal wait time, Tambu Lounge is a great option.

4. Themed Eats

One of my favorite reasons to visit Tambu Lounge is the delicious food offerings.  This is no ordinary bar food folks, all the eats have a tropical flavor and are themed to match the resort and pair perfectly with the drink menu. Think hearty snacks like grilled meat kebabs with a delicious peanut sauce and shrimp cocktail.
