12 Helpful Tips For A Successful Day At Disney's Magic Kingdom

Horse Magic Kingdom Castle

Disney’s Magic Kingdom can be hectic and overwhelming, but it certainly doesn’t have to be! With a little bit of advance planning and some tips on navigating the park, visiting the Magic Kingdom is a breeze.

12. Arrive early

The Magic Kingdom is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, which means that even on a “slow” day it’s going to be crowded. Arrive early to take advantage of the couple of hours in the morning when the park is less crowded and the wait times for attractions like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train are shorter. If you arrive when the park opens, you’ll also be able to experience the special morning welcome show!

11. Explore Main Street

Main Street U.S.A. is surprisingly one of the most overlooked areas in the Magic Kingdom. So many guests rush through Main Street on their way to their favorite attractions, but it’s really worth slowing it down and taking a look around. Aside from shops like the Emporium and the Confectionary, Main Street is home to Mickey and Tinkerbell meet and greets, live performances like the trolley show and the Dapper Dans, and some of the best photo ops in front of Cinderella Castle.

10. See the parade

Some guests see the parade as the best time to hit the rides, because so many people will be watching the parade and the lines for rides will be short. This may be true, but the Festival of Fantasy parade is really worth seeing. Stick it out for the parade (since it only happens once per day), and ride the rides later on when the parade is over.

9. Use FastPass+

FastPass Plus

FastPass+ is the perfect solution to wanting to see the parade and experience short waits for rides. Download the My Disney Experience app for your smartphone so you can make selections in advance, and use FastPass to save your place in line. This (free) service allows you to pre-select three attractions to ride with little or no wait, and frees up some of your time so you can see the parade without feeling like you’re missing out on the rides.

8. Have some snacks

Some of the most classic Disney snacks can be found in the Magic Kingdom. Eat on the go and really enjoy what you’re snacking on with turkey legs, churros, popcorn, Dole Whips, and more. For all available snacks, check your park map, the My Disney Experience app, or ask a cast member.
