The only death to occur onboard a Disney World monorail happened when 21-year old monorail driver Austin Wuennenberg was killed in the early morning of July 5, 2009 during a track change. The pink and purple monorails collided with each other in the Transportation and Ticket Center station on the Epcot line. The pink and purple monorail colors were subsequently retired in the aftermath of the collision.
