8 Walt Disney World Resorts We Can't Get Enough Of

Contemporary Resort

1. Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Along with Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Disney’s Contemporary stands as the premier Disney World Resort Hotel, having opened in conjunction with the Magic Kingdom’s own grand opening in 1971. But despite its status as a “classic,” this Deluxe Resort stays true to its name with all the latest modern conveniences and innovations, including a whole host of onsite amenities and features.

Rooms range from standard studios to villa suites that boast one- and two-bedrooms. There are even three-bedrooms in the form of two-story grand villas that sleep 12. And of course you will find all the same modern conveniences you’ve come to expect in any Disney Resort, along with added perks and home-away-from-home comforts in the villa suites, like full kitchens, appliances, furnishings, and more.

The resort boasts many different recreational pursuits to enjoy, including two great pools, whirlpool spas, a 17-foot waterslide, and a kid’s splash playground, to name just a few highlights in swimming. You’ll also enjoy tennis and volleyball courts, jogging trails, motorized boat rentals, fishing excursions, and much, much more. Inside you’ll find plenty of shopping and many marvels to behold, like the 90-foot stellar mural celebrating the Grand Canyon and American Southwest by Disney’s famed Mary Blair. And feast your eyes on this—the monorail that runs a constant loop between the Polynesian, Grand Floridian, and the Magic Kingdom also makes its rounds at the Contemporary, but in this case the monorail actually runs through the hotel! Another unique side note to take in, this is the only Disney World hotel in which guests can actually walk to the Magic Kingdom directly via a short pathway.

Disney’s Contemporary is also a place to enjoy several delicious dining options. Chef Mickey’s is a great buffet where you can enjoy bountiful breakfast, brunch, or delightful dinner fare while visiting with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto. Another decadent suggestion, the famed California Grill, packs a punch with delicious fare and sky-high views that are beyond compare. Dining here gives you a spectacular vantage point for nighttime fireworks.

Every Disney World Resort delivers a magical stay. Whether you are looking for a convenient and affordable experience with one of the Value Resorts or the full works in the way of Deluxe accommodations, staying on Disney property is the way to go. And keep in mind that all resort distinctions offer guests the same great exclusive benefits, like complementary transportation, extra magic hours, and plenty of other perks made possible by pixie dust.
