9. It Doesn’t Disengage You From Reality

Unlike most other apps on your phone, the purpose of the Play Disney Parks app isn’t to distract you from the real world. And while it has been designed to keep you occupied, its aim is to encourage you to interact with your physical surroundings – including those in your group. Once you’ve downloaded the app, you’ll enter a whole world of trivia, games and much more, including something particularly worthwhile – socializing!

8. The Look and Feel is Gorgeous

The app’s home screen – or “game board” – is a wonderfully-crafted map made up of unique animations including landmarks, characters and more. The artwork is inspired by Disney artists from over the years, as well as the original park maps from the 1955 Disneyland Resort opening. Bursting with vibrant colors and dazzling special effects, the app also allows you to discover new animated elements as you explore.

7. The Games Go “to Infinity and Beyond!”

There are countless games to be played on the Play Disney Parks app (the clue is in the name!). The idea isn’t to bury your nose in your phone, though, as the games will have you looking around, exploring and interacting with friends and family. Just look out for the game markers on the map which can be found at select attractions, where the games can be unlocked. You’ll also collect achievements as you go, too!

6. The Magical Achievements are Awesome

While in-game achievements don’t quite count as merchandise, they’re still neat and can make for a wonderful collection – even if it is a digital one. You can collect these achievements – each uniquely-themed - by naturally exploring the parks and enjoying select attractions like Toy Story Mania!, and also by earning them through the games and trivia. Be sure to share them online with your friends and family – there’s nothing like some healthy competition!

5. You Can Trigger Real-World Special Effects

One of the most incredible things about the Play Disney Parks app is that its magic isn’t restricted to the screen of your mobile phone. As you play, you’ll actually “trigger” physical in-park special effects within your environment! These effects are available to see within queuing systems for select attractions. Who needs wands anyway!

4. It Offers “A Whole New World” of Disney Music

With the Play Disney Parks app you can celebrate your visit with an authentic musical experience - so keep your eyes peeled for the musical notes on the map. Enjoy classic Disney songs or new custom-curated songs themed to a particular land or attraction. But you don’t need to be in the parks for the music - you can get in that sing-along mood before you arrive! “Heigh-Ho – it’s off to Walt Disney World Resort you go”!

3. It Extends Attraction Experiences

Who’d have ever thought that there would be an app that extends attractions? As you wait to board your favorite ride, you can enjoy in-queue games appropriate to that ride which will see you enjoy new elements of it before it even starts. At Toy Story Land, experience Toy Story Mania!’s Playset Party, for starters! This is just one of the many extended experiences that will have you “reaching for the sky”.

2. The Disney Trivia is Great Fun

As well as music notes and game markers, you’ll also discover question marks on the game board as you explore the parks. These represent themed trivia packs, so be the app’s “guest” and “put your Disney knowledge to the test”! Questions aren’t restricted to the Disney Parks, either – they can be related to movies and songs and so much more. If there’s anything worth sharing and boasting about besides your magical achievements, it’s your Disney IQ!

While activities are only available at in-park locations, you can still enjoy trivia and music outside the resort, making the resort just that little bit bigger. And with this year and the next seeing the arrival of new attractions and themed lands like Toy Story Land (now open), the possibilities really do go “to infinity and beyond”. As for 2019’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, expect “the Force” to be “strong” with the Play Disney Parks app.

The Play Disney Parks app is free to download from the Apple Store and Google Play for iOS and Android phones. Once you’re in, you can unlock a new dimension of storytelling. And all content is free, too – which goes hand-in-hand with saying that this magical app is pretty priceless!
