A Rant About Disney World Buses in Less Than 450 Words

If I can help it, I am never going to take a Disney World Bus ever again. During a time in the Walt Disney World Resort’s history where every second of time feels crucial, I can no longer afford to spend the time waiting to use an exhaustingly slow and inefficient mode of Disney World transportation from my Resort Hotel to Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park.

Sure, Disney Bus Transportation is a complimentary service that is, to many, a welcomed relief to having to drive everywhere across the Central Florida Mega-Resort, especially for those who stay at the far corners of the property like All-Star Sports Resort and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. And if you are the Guest who likes to eat and drink around the World at EPCOT, then it is best that you stay off the roads and let a Cast Member do the driving for you.

But unless I am staying out at the Parks until the very end of the day or I have an extra 30 minutes to kill, I am just going to bite the bullet and drive myself everywhere I want to go around Disney World.

The Disney World Bus Transportation System excruciatingly slow. The Cast Members need to drive slower than the normal speed of civilian traffic, and the amount of time getting Guests of all sizes and abilities property seated or standing on board each bus can take even more time. Over the past three days of my latest trip to The Walt Disney World Resort, I attempted to use the Bus service provided from Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. I ended up driving myself and beating the next bus by a significant time, that more than justified my independence.

Now, I am telling this story from a pulpit of some privilege as I am an Disney World Annual Passholder, and I do not have to pay for Parking at the individual Theme Parks. And a significant number of Resort Hotels, from Disneys Contemporary Resort and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort, that have access to Ferry Boats, the Monorail, and Disney Skyliner. But for those who are staying at the few remaining Resorts with no other access to the Theme Parks besides Bus like Disney’s Port Orleans Resort and Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa, or attempting to visit Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney Springs, or Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach Water Park, I advise you to seriously consider adding the Theme Park Parking or Minnie Van service to your budget, or at least making sure to give yourself a window of 30-60 minutes to get from one place to another.
