2. Pre-Ride Experience

The pre-ride queue is one of my favorites in all of Walt Disney World.  Guests start by descending down a steel looking staircase with vintage ‘NASA’ looking posters and portraits on the wall.  The first sign you see “Starport Seven-Five” is a nod to the opening of the attraction in 1975.   Guests then walk uphill into the actual ride queue which was refurbished in 2009.  Video games are there for guest’s entertainment while waiting in the non-Fast Pass line.  These aren’t your typical PS4 or Xbox One games either. They are more like Atari/Asteroids themed games. Space Mountain isn’t as fast as other Disney attractions.  The top speed is only 28 MPH, but seems much faster as it takes place completely in the dark.  Once guests hop on board in the Space Port, in a very snug rocket for guests with longer legs, and you head into orbit!
