1 Week Trip Plan for Families at Walt Disney World

Matthew Cooper Photography

How does a family get the planning started on a one week trip to Walt Disney World? Here’s a suggested family itinerary to get you started on a 7 night vacation. Be sure to note Extra Magic Hours for your particular days, however. You’ll want those to dictate which park you tackle on which day. But in general, your trip could look something like this…

Day 1: Check In and Explore

Your first day will be somewhat of a travel day, so it’s probably not the best idea to enter a park. Instead, use this day to check in to your resort, unpack, get familiar with the amenities, and maybe hit the pool depending on your arrival time. This is also a great night for a non-park dinner reservation. Families with small kids may be worn out after a day of travel, so it might not be wise to do a dinner show. But a family-friendly dinner at Cape May, O’hana, or any of the venues in Animal Kingdom Lodge might be perfect. Follow up your meal with s’mores by the campfire and an outdoor movie and any of the locations just mentioned.
