7 Tips For Having The Best Disney Vacation Ever!

Everyone wants to have the best Disney vacation ever. I just spent a week there with my entire family celebrating my 50th birthday. You would think that would be enough but not this Disney fan. I went back two weeks later with just my sister. I have been going since the 70’s and every trip can be as magical as the first time you visit. Depending on the size of your party, you can make it magical with some planning and a lot of cooperation from your family and friends.

7. My Disney Experience App/Website

The My Disney Experience Website/App should be your first stop on your planning adventure. This is where you can book your resort reservations and I highly recommend staying in one of the Disney resorts; not only for the appearance of the resorts but for all of the Disney transportation that is provided. You won’t need to drive your car until you have to leave the Happiest Place on earth. After you book your resort, buy your tickets and order your magic bands, then pat yourself on the back for getting your magical experience started.

6. FastPass+ and Disney Character Fun!

Next, I suggest getting familiar with the layout of the Disney parks through My Disney Experience Maps and then pick a few “must do” rides. Schedule FastPasses on your mydisneyexperience.com account and avoid the long lines for your favorite rides. You also get to choose your individual character on your account that represents each person in your party. Another suggestion would be to find shirts with that character on it to wear to the park If you are a little crafty, you can create your own. I created matching shirts for everyone in my family when we were celebrating my 50th Birthday. It really gets everyone in the mood for some Disney Magic. If you don’t want to do the shirts a new set of Mickey ears or a silly Disney themed hat will also do the trick. You can put a pair of ears on a grumpy person and suddenly attitudes change. It’s amazing ( Disney Magic at work).

5. Soak In The Details

When you finally make it into the park, make sure you stop at the beginning of Main Street and take five minutes and just look around at all of the splendor around you. Most people just rush to the rides and miss the view. A great view is at the top of the train station. I like to go up there and spend about 10 minutes and take a time-lapse video of all of the people walking around Main Street. It’s only 10 minutes out of your day and it is well worth it because when your trip is over you will watch that video over and over. So, if you have that capability on your smartphone I highly recommend it.

4. Barber Shop Fun

If you have a little one with you, the barber shop next to the fire station on Main Street USA in Magic Kingdom offers “First hair Cuts”. They make it a very memorable event. For $19.00 they cut his hair, gave him his first pair of Mickey ears, a certificate and a keep sake for the hair that was cut. It was a family event and we took video’s and many photos.

3. Memory Maker

Disney offers a special photography service called Memory Maker which gives you unlimited digital photos taken by professional Disney photographers throughout the parks to view, download and share! I highly recommend purchasing the Memory Maker if you are celebrating something special or if you are going for more than day. If you purchase it ahead of time through your My Disney Experience account you can save some money. Disney has photographers all over the parks for easy access. If you find a Cast Member photographer without a tripod, ask for a “Magic Shot”. When you get your photos, someone or something special will magically appear in your photo. You will also get some great ride photos as well. If you have your magic band on, the photo system on the ride will automatically know you are on the ride and your photo will magically appear on your account. We even got a video from the tower of terror ride at Disney Studios.

2. Souvenirs

Let’s talk souvenirs… Everybody wants them and they can become very expensive. I like to take a trip over to the local Walmart not too far off of Disney property. They usually have a large selection of T-shirts, Beach Towels, Coffee Mugs and many more Disney themed gifts. Buying items off Disney property will help you save your money for the special souvenirs that you can only purchase inside the parks. You can even go to your own local Dollar Store before you arrive and pick up some cute things for the kids.

1. Make Some Memories

My best advice I can give anyone to have the best Disney Vacation Ever is to remember why you are there in the first place. You are making memories. Disney is the only place that if your 5 years old or 75 years old you can be a kid and see the world thru a child’s eyes. Thats why they say “Show us your Disney Side”.

I hope these tips have helped you in some small way. Have a magical Disney vacation!
