9. IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth
IllumiNations: Reflections of Earthis EPCOT’s nighttime spectacular that takes place on the World Showcase Lagoon. The presentation lasts approximately 15 minutes, and you can see it from anywhere around the World Showcase where you have a clear view of the lagoon. Disney World spends a whopping $25,000 each time this presentation is shown—that’s once every night, weather permitting! That sounds unbelievable, but you’ll see the creativity in storytelling in this show, and with all the special effects that are used, you’ll also understand the expense! IllumiNationstells the story of Earth in three parts: “The Earth is Born,” “The Triumph of Life,” and “Hope for the Future.” See balls of fire launched 60 feet in the air as the story is told, and a 350,000-pound globe used as a video display system. (Note: The globe used in IllumiNations was the first spherical video display system in the world!) Because there are so many good places from which to watch this nighttime spectacular, you won’t go wrong no matter where you choose to sit. IllumiNationsis one of Disney’s best nighttime shows, so get a spot early and enjoy!
