What’s New and Coming to Hollywood Studios

Hollywood Studios Entrance

As the Disney World nears its 50thbirthday in 2021, all of the theme parks and resorts are receiving some extra special attention to welcome back guests, as well as welcome new guests for the first time. Magic Kingdom is building the exciting Tron Lightcycle Run, Epcot is adding a Guardians of the Galaxy Rollercoaster, as well as a Ratatouille-themed attraction in France, and Animal Kingdom is still welcoming record crowds at Pandora: The World of Avatar.  Hollywood Studios, however, it in the midst of a re-defining transformation and addition to the park.  Guests can expect a lot in the near future at Hollywood Studios! Here is what you have to look forward to!

1. Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy

To be housed in the Sunset Showcase building hidden behind Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror, this new experience is meant to invite guests young and old to learn more about the Carsracer and learn the rules of the road.  During this experience, guests will also have the opportunity to get up close with Lightning McQueen (and hopefully other favorites from the Cars franchise)!

2. Toy Story Land

Approaching its one-year anniversary, Toy Story Land is still drawing crowds who are flocking to ride both of the new, thrilling attractions that call this land home.  Alien Swirling Saucers allows guests to spin around in unique ride vehicles. The other new attraction is Slinky Dog Dash – a family rollercoaster that is tame enough for young kids, but wild enough even for seasoned riders.  Guests will love the intricate, backyard theming of the ride, as well as the extra special views it offers of the soon-to-be-opened Star Wars Land. Lastly, guests will want to try out any of the delicious food offers that can be found at Woody’s Lunch Box — be it a savory sandwich or a sweet, sugary snack, your stomach will thank you for stopping by!

3. Nighttime Shows

The classic show at Hollywood Studios is Fantasmic, but guests can also enjoy other spectacles in the central area of the park in front of the Chinese Theatre.  Beginning this summer, guests can enjoy the wondrous accomplishments of Disney’s animation with the Wonderful World of Animation.  Guests will be treated to projections on the buildings in this area on a voyage through almost 100 years of animation.  After celebrating the storied animation history of Disney, be sure to travel to a universe far, far away with Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular!  Guests viewing this show will be amazed by the use of projection technology, lasers, and fireworks to celebrate one of the most storied film franchises in Hollywood history!
