Ingredients

For each serving:
  • 6 cups Ice cubes (enough to fill a gallon-sized freezer bag about half way)
  • 1 tbsp Kosher salt (Ice cream salt or table salt will work too)
  • 1 cup cream soda
  • 1 tsp butterscotch ice cream topping
For the Cream Topping:
  • 1 cup heavy cream or whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup butterscotch topping

Equipment

  • Hand Mixer

Method

  1. Step 1: Place ice cubes and salt in a gallon-sized Ziploc bag.
A clear glass bowl filled with ice cubes in a resealable plastic bag sits on a wooden surface. Part of a red and white striped cloth is visible in the top left corner, and a pink container with red liquid is partially visible on the right.
For the Slush:
  1. Step 1: Place cream soda and butterscotch in a smaller quart-sized Ziploc bag, press out all the air and seal tightly. Mix around until the butterscotch is mixed in with the cream soda.
A sealed Ziploc bag filled with a brownish liquid, likely homemade broth or stock, sits on a wooden surface. There are bubbles visible within the liquid, and a patterned cloth is partially visible in the upper left corner of the image.
  2. Step 2: Place bag of soda IN the bag of ice and seal.
A resealable plastic bag partially filled with ice cubes is placed on a wooden cutting board. A red and white striped cloth is seen in the top left corner of the image, and a marble countertop is visible at the bottom edge.
  3. Step 3: Shake for about 3-5 minutes or until the soda is nice and slushy- if it gets too cold, wrap a dish cloth around it and continue shaking.
A hand holding a sealed plastic bag filled with a light brown liquid over another plastic bag. The background features a red and white striped cloth. The person has lavender-colored nail polish.
  4. Step 4: Pour slush into a cup and top with butterscotch cream topping (below).
Two frothy beverages served in glass mugs are placed on a wooden surface. A red and white striped cloth is in the background, next to a honey bottle and two golden spoons on the side. The mugs contain an orange-tinted drink topped with a white, foamy layer.
For the Cream Topping:
  1. Step 1: Beat the cream and butterscotch with a mixer on high speed until stiff peaks form.
A glass bowl filled with whipped, creamy dip sits on a wooden counter. Beside it, a white and red striped cloth partially covers a bottle of caramel sundae syrup. A hand mixer with some of the creamy mixture on its beaters is seen on the right.
