10 Experiences You Might Not Have Tried Around Walt Disney World Resort

When someone mentions Walt Disney World, the first thing that comes to mind is usually the main theme parks. However, there are many fun things to do outside of the theme parks. Some are free and some are quite expensive, but all of them are fun ways to add a little magic to your vacation. Here are 10 things you might not have tried around Walt Disney World resort:

10. The World Showcase

Most people walk through the World Showcase at Epcot, look at the different architecture and then move on to the next country. However, there are a lot of interesting things to be found in the World Showcase! There are street performers, artists, and craftsmen on every corner to watch. Eating or drinking something at each pavilion can be a satisfying way to spend the day. Buying a small trinket like a keychain from each country is a fun way to start a collection. The gift shops in each pavilion are very unique and all offer unusual things to peruse.

9. Resort Hopping

Each resort on the Walt Disney world property has its own individual atmosphere. Try spending an afternoon browsing a different resort’s gift shop or sampling appetizers from resort restaurants. This is a great idea when the weather thwarts your theme park plans, or you just want some leisurely time to plan at which resort you’ll be staying during your next trip.

8. Golfing

For the avid golfer in your party, Walt Disney World has four beautiful golf courses available on property. Golf lessons are even available if your swing needs some honing. If 18 holes isn’t your cup of tea, there’s always Fantasia miniature golf in the Epcot area and Winter Summerland miniature golf at Blizzard Beach.

7. Movies Under The Stars

The majority of on-property resorts have movies playing nightly on large outdoor projectors, weather permitting. As you return to your resort from a thrill-filled day at the theme parks, grab your family and wind down watching one of your favorite Disney movies outdoors. Many of these movie showings also have a campfire as well.

6. Marina Rentals

Several resorts offer boat rentals, ranging from small kayaks and canoes to larger party barges and parasailing. Spending an afternoon on one of the lakes around the Walt Disney world property soaking up the Florida sunshine is a relaxing way to take a break from the crowds. You can even take a fireworks cruise to watch Illuminations at Epcot from the water for an incredible view.

5. Bike or Surrey Ride

At many locations on property, you can rent a bike to take a quiet ride around your resort. Resorts like Port Orleans have a multitude of sidewalks and lots of shade trees to ride under. On the Boardwalk, your family can rent a surrey and pedal around Crescent Lake together enjoying the atmosphere at the Boardwalk, Yacht and Beach Clubs.

4. Enjoying a Spa Treatment

Most of the deluxe resorts have full-service spas on site. Available treatments range from manicures and pedicures to facials to full body massages. You can even get your hair cut and colored. If the weather puts a damper on your plans to tour the parks or your feet are tired after walking all day, try heading to the spa to massage away your stress.
