10 Mistakes I Made on My First Walt Disney World Trip

10. Staying Off-Property

While there are plenty of amazing Orlando-area resorts that are close to Disney property, nothing beats staying at a Walt Disney World resort hotel. When you stay off-property, you have to think about transportation (renting a car or taking a taxi everywhere), traffic, and travel time in general, which usually means less time in the parks and more time dealing with parking lot traffic after fireworks every night. Having access to Disney’s Magical Express, which gets you to and from the airport, the transportation systems, like buses, the monorail and boats, and the proximity to the parks makes a huge difference. Plus, you will miss out on the magic the Disney resorts bring to every guest! This choice is entirely up to each family and their needs and budget, but if you want to fully appreciate everything Disney has to offer, definitely stay on-site, especially for your first visit.
