10 Reasons Why We Love Magic Kingdom Its a Small World

Its A Small World

Its a Small World is one of the most iconic and beloved Disney attractions of all time. It is truly unique to Disney in so many ways. The following are my top ten reasons why we love It’s a Small World.

10. Its a boat attraction

Some of my favorite Walt Disney World attractions involve being in a boat. This includes It’s a Small World. There is just something so relaxing about loading into your boat and setting out on a journey through the different cultures of the World represented by children.

9. Make a wish

When you’re coming toward the end of the attraction be sure to look in the water and notice all the coins. These all represent wishes from guests all over the world. Before you get on It’s a Small World be sure and bring some coins to toss in the water and make a wish. This is truly the best place to make a wish!

8. Lights and decor

As with all Disney attractions, part of the enjoyment is the attention to detail in every phase. With It’s a Small World, there is so much going on that its easy to miss certain details. The lighting and decor throughout the attraction really add to the enjoyment and magic that keep us coming back for more!

7. Classic attraction

It’s a Small World is one of the original attractions conceived by Walt himself for the 1964 New York Worlds fair and then shipped to Disneyland. It is definitely a Disney staple at every park across the world. The Walt Disney World version is a classic attraction without a doubt and has its own unique style. When you ride this attraction you get a sense of Walt’s spirit and what he wanted to represent in his parks.

6. The wonderful costumes

Attention to detail was very important to Walt Disney in every project he took on. This is apparent all throughout the Walt Disney Company even today. It’s a Small World is no exception. Every costume on every doll through the entire ride were hand sewn and even have authentic materials from each region.

5. Great way to cool down

If you have ever been to central Florida in the middle of summer you know all to well how hot and humid it can get. There are many options to cool down while enjoying your trip to WDW. One of the best ways is to get on an indoor attraction. It’s a Small World is a great one because it is kept so cool and its filled with water. Its just long enough to cool down and enjoy an amazing attraction.

4. Usually shorter line

Some of the busier days at Walt Disney World can be a little overwhelming. Their can be days where some of the more popular attractions will have over 2 hour wait times. It’s a Small World is a great option on these days.

3. Waving to the people eating at Pinocchio Village Haus

Walt Disney World vacations are all about making memories. One thing that I always remember about our family trips was riding It’s a Small World and waving to the guests eating in the window at Pinocchio Village Haus. It always made me so happy to get that wave back. It was like an acknowledgement of how happiness and joy are truly infectious.

2. It gives us hope

One thing that It’s a Small World does so well is it gives us hope. Hope in the idea of world peace. It is a reminder that there is just one moon and golden sun and a smile does mean friendship to everyone. Thousands of guests who take the journey through It’s a Small World each and every day leave with that little bit of hope in a brighter and happier more peaceful planet.

1. The song!

Whats the first thing you think about when you mention It’s a Small World? The wonderfully written and ever so repetitive song! Not only is it a Disney classic but it was written by 2 Disney legends. The Sherman Brothers. Walt loved the final rendition of the song so much that he changed the original name of the attraction from Children of the World to what we know it as today and what it will be known as for years to come. It reminds us that “It’s a Small World after all!”
