10. Disney resorts vs. non-Disney resorts
The first step to choosing a resort for your Walt Disney World vacation is to decide whether or not you want to stay at a Disney resort. In general, Disney resorts are more expensive than their non-Disney counterparts. This expense does come with resort-exclusive perks however like complimentary transportation, Extra Magic Hours, the ability to reserve FastPass+ selections 60 days in advance, complimentary package delivery to the resort and more. Research the themes and amenities of both Disney and non-Disney resorts to find the option that will work best for your family. And remember that select resorts that are not operated by Disney are still able to take advantage of these benefits (Shades of Green, the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin, and the Disney Springs Resorts).
