101 Magical Tips for Your Walt Disney World Vacation

Disney Gift Card

Money Saving Tips

79. Watch the official Disney special offers page for the latest discounts on everything from rooms to tickets to photo packages.

80. Consider staying off-property, especially if you’ve got a big family. You’ll save hundreds and often have more space.

81. Go in the off-season for lower crowds AND lower costs. January is the best time to go, followed by September and May. In the summer and during holidays you’ll pay peak prices.

82. Sign up for a Disney Visa Card and use it for everything before your vacation. (Spend responsibly, pay it off in full.) The rewards points are redeemed for a gift card to be used on your trip. (Plus, cardmembers get in-park perks!)

83. Think hard about whether or not you will need to add the Park Hopper option. It offers great flexibility, but if you don’t utilize the hopping then you’ll waste $50 per ticket.

84. Check your WDW food receipts for possible merchandise coupons.

85. Consider giving older kids a souvenir spending budget, or even their own personal Disney gift card, in order to limit spending but also allow for freedom of decisions.

86. Get discounted Disney gift cards at Sam’s or BJ’s, or use your Target Red Card to buy them at a 5% discount.

87. Annual Pass Holders get discounts on everything. But not everyone in your party has to be an APH to get the perks. Look into the possible savings of upgrading just one member in your party to APH status.

88.  Pre-buy a few “necessities” at the Dollar Store to save money in the parks. Ponchos, glow sticks, and hand sanitizer are a good start.

89. Look into a AAA membership for Disney discounts. Others have reported a triple savings when compared to membership cost.

90. Make your own autograph books and pin lanyards at home to personalize them and save money.
