12 Disney World Freebies You’ll Love!

Club Cool

“Disney World” and “free” might not be phrases that you often hear together, however there are actually a number of things you can indeed get at Walt Disney World… for free! While you may need to put in some effort to track down some of the items on this list, they are well worth it. Some of my favorite souvenirs from Disney trips are things that I didn’t pay for at all. Read on to discover my top 12 picks for the best Disney World freebies:

12. Cups of Water

Any counter service location in Walt Disney World will provide you with a free cup of water. If you’re looking to save some extra money during your next trip, skip the bottled waters in favor of stopping in a restaurant for a free cup.

11. Ghiradelli Chocolate Samples

The Ghiradelli shop in Downtown Disney regularly offers free samples of the company’s chocolate. While you’ll likely end up purchasing something of your own anyway, free chocolate certainly doesn’t hurt.

10. Leis from the Polynesian

While visiting the Polynesian Village Resort (either as a guest of that specific resort, or a guest to Walt Disney World in general) you can stop by the front desk and ask for leis. These leis are free, and are not made of real flowers—as opposed to the ones sold at the resort which are indeed hand strung with real flowers, and are certainly not free. If you’re feeling festive for your dinner at Ohana, stop by the desk to receive your free leis.

9. Package Pickup/Resort Delivery

When you purchase merchandise at any of the theme parks at the Walt Disney World resort, you can choose to use the complimentary shipping service that will send your items either to the front of the park or to the gift shop at your resort. The items will arrive at your resort at about noon the next day, and they will arrive at the front of the park about 3 hours after they’re purchased.

8. Movies under the Stars

Movies under the Stars are special events where the resorts play some of your favorite Disney movies for free. Instead of paying to see a movie at Downtown Disney, ask for a schedule of the movies your resort is showing from the front desk, and relax outside your resort with a late night movie.

7. Drawing Classes

One of the best things about attending a drawing class at either Hollywood Studios or the Art of Animation resort, is that the class results in a free souvenir. Whatever you draw is yours to take with you, and in some cases you may actually be able to take an artist’s drawing home for free as well. Some artists give their drawing to a member of the class, generally through correctly answering a Disney trivia question.

6. Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Spell Cards

Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, the interactive card game that takes place throughout the park, results in some of my favorite free souvenirs—spell cards. If you’re looking to add to your Disney collection, be sure to start a Sorcerers game and pick up your cards during each visit to the park.

5. Maps/Brochures

Disney maps and brochures can be extremely useful when scrapbooking after your trip, and the best part is that they’re free. Many craft stores sell Disney scrapbook stickers, often at very expensive prices, so taking some maps home with you may be a more affordable way to craft after your trip.

4. Stickers

Many Cast Members give out stickers of Disney characters to guests. The stickers vary by location, so be sure to keep an eye out for them and see how many you can collect.

3. Club Cool Soda

Club Cool, located in Epcot, is the place to go if you’re looking to sample different sodas from around the world—for free. Free drinks (water excluded) are not easy to find at Walt Disney World, so I would take this opportunity to try some new drinks without paying for them at a restaurant.

2. Celebration Buttons

There are celebration buttons available for almost any occasion—birthdays, family reunions, engagements, weddings, or anniversaries. Not celebrating a specific event? Pick up an ordinary “I’m celebrating!” button, and write in your own event. Some of the most interesting buttons are the ones that go outside the norm, and celebrate things individual triumphs, or simply spending time in Walt Disney World.

1. Pictures

To me, pictures are the best souvenir I could ask for on vacation. Pictures allow you to capture memories and relive those experiences over and over even when you’re back at home after your vacation. The cool thing about taking pictures in Disney is that everyone can be included in the pictures—when you see a PhotoPass photographer, don’t feel like you can’t have your photo taken with him or her because you aren’t planning on buying the photo. Any Disney photographer will gladly take your photo for free using your camera or cell phone.
