$1,400 Belle Doll for the 30th Anniversary of “Beauty and the Beast” Sells Out Instantly

We are always checking shopDisney for new items to share, but one of today’s new arrivals caught us by surprise. Earlier today, shopDisney added a Belle doll to their lineup of unique Disney merchandise in celebration of the 30th anniversary of Beauty and the Beast (1991). And, even with the high price point of nearly $1,400, it seems the doll sold out instantly!

Disney collectors are serious about their hobbies. Last week at the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts, we saw collectors lining up for six or more hours to score a Figment popcorn bucket, and this week, we spotted this collector’s item sold out immediately on shopDisney.

The doll was a new arrival on shopDisney this morning with a limited edition set of only 500 available. We refresh the new arrivals page of shopDisney often to stay on top of new merchandise, and the doll sold out so quickly we never saw it actually available for purchase, we have only seen it sold out on the site.

This felt doll is made by Steiff, a high-end German-based plush toy company. In case the doll was still available from the manufacturer directly, we checked Steiff’s website, too, and saw that the doll is also sold out there, leading us to believe that all 500 dolls have been pre-ordered.

Belle from Beauty and the Beast is the first Disney princess doll to be created by Steiff, and while the price point is just a little more than what we typically spend on a doll, she looks beautiful and would certainly have an appeal for a collector (or 500 collectors!)

Given the success of the Belle doll, we would not be surprised to see Steiff introduce other Disney princess dolls in the future. This doll and presumably other dolls in the collection come with high-quality garments making up her dress from the classic Disney animated film, and she is adorned with felt gloves and white pearl earrings.

If you are interested in checking out other Disney plush and dolls by Steiff, we recommend heading over to their website. They have an expansive Disney collection that includes collector dolls similar to this one as well as plush and other items that are appropriate for all ages and price points.
