A Walt Disney World Resort guest was shocked when he and his nephew were forced to change in front of multiple adult guests. The two were visiting Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park when the incident occurred.
Everyone’s familiar with Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, and Disney Springs. But not every guest knows that Walt Disney World Resort offers two first-class water parks, perfect for cooling down during a hot summer vacation: Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and Disney’s Blizzard Beach.
Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon opened in 1989 and is home to one of the world’s largest wave pools. It’s tropical-themed, featuring regular visits from beloved Disney characters Lilo and Stitch.
Attractions at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon range from top thrills to fun for the whole family. Take a ride on Humunga Kowabunga, Miss Adventure Falls, and the Crush ‘n’ Gusher, or float down the lazy river while the kids play at Ketchakiddee Creek. You can even learn to surf!
Unfortunately, one Walt Disney World Resort guest wasn’t happy with an intimate aspect of his recent visit to Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park. Redditor u/where_is_the_thing took his nephew to the Disney park and found the communal men’s changing rooms “odd.”
“[I] was surprised to find that the Men’s Changing room still had open locker room style changing areas,” the Disney Resort guest wrote.
He’d recently visited Universal Orlando Resort’s Volcano Bay water park, which offers private changing areas.
“I’m just surprised that Disney of all places still functions like that when Volcano Bay has more proper changing stalls,” the Disney Park guest said.

I’m 77 years old and have been taking my family to Disneyland for 40 years. I’m sick of the changes and feel if someone is offended they can go somewhere else. When will it stop? I liked the way it was. I won’t be going again.

This delicate flower should stay out of locker rooms if he requires a private spa experience to change clothes. The lead in on this story made it sound like something inappropriate had happened. Males changing clothes in a male locker room is not an issue.
They have private areas to change. This is an attention seeker.

I think you should just stay at Universal. He didn’t have a good time at Disney then stay away. I don’t think I want to be standing in line with you for anything because I think it’s just gonna be crab crab crab crab crab and then you had to go to social media to tell people about something so petty bye-bye

Personally, where there is going to be children involved, there should be private changing quarters. The park is opening themselves up to potential lawsuits if someone gets inappropriate with a child who’s changing.
The next time take the sissy to the little girls room or change in the toilet. Just sock it up.
This is not “boot camp”, this is not junior high, this is a public place that you have to pay to use and it should have privacy…the fact that it doesn’t opens itself up to lawsuits and needs to be fixed….as a parent and grandparent I would not feel safe sending my child into that enviroment as a single mom or even as a family. Anyone that doesn’t see the problem is probably the problem.

Uh, pretty sure that TL has literal ROWS of shower areas that have a curtains to block you off. Besides, you can always go into a stall to change if you need to.
For the person who had a problem sending a child into area, I am guessing you are talking about a young male who has no male family member present. You do not indicate the age of the young male but I do know that from Junior Hogh through college there are not usually sheltered dressing/changing areas. If you have to have this as a requirement you should (1) check to see if there is a family restroom where all of you can go together and change OR (2) find a park that does and only participate at that facility OR. (3) stop going to water parks.
Every gym I have been in has communal showers and locker / changing areas. Anyone who doesn’t like this should just wear their swimsuit to the waterpark. It’s a shame that someone is being raised to be so self conscious of their own body.
