Disneyland Resort guests were in for a surprise last week when Tiana’s Bayou Adventure experienced an unusual malfunction, sending waves of concern through the Disney Parks fan community. While the attraction is no stranger to technical hiccups, this latest issue has quickly gone viral, drawing criticism and debate about the ride’s reliability.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Shuts Down Unexpectedly
Disneyland Resort’s version of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opened in November 2024, bringing The Princess and the Frog (2009) to life and replacing the controversial Splash Mountain. The ride invites guests to help Princess Tiana (Anika Noni Rose), Mama Odie (Jenifer Lewis), Prince Naveen (Bruno Campos), and Louis (Michael-Leon Wooley) gather the perfect band for a lively New Orleans-style party.

While its Magic Kingdom counterpart experienced frequent technical issues after opening last June, Disneyland Park’s version initially seemed to fare better. However, recent malfunctions suggest that the ride may not be immune to operational troubles.
Last week, a video posted by TikTok user @scariestplaceonearth revealed a disturbing malfunction inside the attraction. The clip, which has since gained nearly five million views, captured an eerie audio failure, where the ride’s soundtrack powered down, causing Princess Tiana and Louis’s dialogue to distort into a slowed, garbled tone.

“Can’t believe I filmed this,” the TikToker captioned the video.
Fans React to Viral Ride Malfunction
Disney Parks fans reacted swiftly, with many commenting on the glitch’s unsettling nature.
“The fear of animatronic malfunctions needs to be discussed more,” @tlou..bro wrote. I’m horrified.”

“This felt like a trip getting progressively worse,” said @blahcloud.
However, some theme park fans used the viral video to criticize Disney’s decision to replace Splash Mountain.
“Splash Mountain characters haunting the ride,” @bethanyfurrow commented.

“THEY TOOK [OUT] SPLASH MOUNTAIN FOR THIS???” @therapyfordutch exclaimed.
Still, others defended the attraction, pointing out that Splash Mountain also experienced frequent technical problems.
“Splash Mountain was notorious for breaking down in the end,” @ckneko argued.
A Pattern of Malfunctions?

This is just the latest in a series of technical mishaps surrounding Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. While Disneyland Resort’s version has had fewer reported issues than Walt Disney World Resort’s, guests have still documented unexpected downtimes, animatronic malfunctions, and ride closures. Given the advanced technology used to bring Princess Tiana’s world to life, some wonder whether Walt Disney Imagineers rushed the attraction’s development.
Disneyland Resort has not commented on the latest viral malfunction, leaving guests to speculate whether this is a one-time error or a sign of deeper operational concerns with Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
