‘Scrubs’ Star Banned From Disneyland, “You Can’t Pick Pluto Up”

Disneyland Resort has strict rules regarding guest behavior—and even celebrities aren’t exempt from facing the consequences. Scrubs star Donald Faison recently shared the hilarious but unfortunate reason he was banned from Disneyland Resort after an interaction with Pluto went sideways.

Faison, best known for playing Dr. Chris Turk on Scrubs, co-hosts the podcast “Fake Doctors, Real Friends” with his former co-star Zach Braff. In a recent episode, Faison recounted the bizarre experience that got him and a friend banned from The Happiest Place on Earth.

The actor revealed that during Scrubs heyday, he visited Disneyland Resort once or twice a month. On one occasion, he was joined by his friend Kevin Jordan, who had one childhood dream: meeting Pluto.

“No matter what, I gotta take a picture with Pluto,” Jordan told him.

Faison was happy to make that happen. Thanks to some Disney magic, cast members arranged a private meet-and-greet with Pluto, complete with a Disney PhotoPass photographer to capture the moment.

Things took an unexpected turn when Jordan, overwhelmed with excitement, picked Pluto up off the ground for a photo. Disneyland Resort security was not amused.

“They came out of nowhere, scrambling,” Faison recalled.

What was meant to be a fun memory quickly turned into a problem. Faison snapped a picture of the moment, and the damage was done. Disneyland Resort security stepped in immediately, and both men were promptly banned from the park.

“I wasn’t allowed back into Disneyland for over a year because of this s***,” Faison admitted.

Disneyland’s Character Rules

While the story may sound like a lighthearted mistake, Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort have strict policies regarding character interactions. Guests are expected to respect characters’ personal space, follow cast member instructions, and—most importantly—not pick them up.

Zach Braff, ever the comedian, summed it up best: “Don’t pick up Pluto.”
