Guests looking forward to a midday meal among the stars may want to adjust their dining plans. Reports indicate that the popular Space 220 restaurant in EPCOT’s World Discovery is currently not offering lunch service and is now only welcoming guests for dinner starting at 4 p.m.

According to a Guest Relations cast member, the Space 220 location is operating on a fluctuating schedule and will only open at 4 p.m. for the evening service. The change, reportedly linked to refurbishment work in the restaurant's lobby, hasn’t yet been reflected on the official Walt Disney World Resort website, which still displays lunch hours for the immersive dining location. As a result, some guests may find themselves unexpectedly turned away.

Opened in 2021, Space 220 offers a unique, out-of-this-world experience that lifts guests “220 miles” above Earth’s surface for an unforgettable meal. “To begin your journey, board a special space elevator that will ascend to the stars!” Disney World shares. “Along the way, viewports will give you an aerial view of EPCOT as you travel high above the planet. As you dine, peer out and enjoy amazing daytime and nighttime views of Earth from 220 miles up.” A favorite for both its atmosphere and menu, Space 220 is beloved by many parkgoers seeking a truly stellar escape.

Elsewhere across Walt Disney World Resort, plenty of other developments are shaping the guest experience. While EPCOT may be seeing the fewest changes in the near future, it recently celebrated the completion of its World Celebration neighborhood, which includes CommuniCore Hall, CommuniCore Plaza, and the tribute statue Walt the Dreamer.

Still ahead for the park is the much-anticipated reimagining of Test Track, inspired by the original World of Motion. The new version is expected to open this summer, keeping EPCOT's focus on innovation alive and well.

Beyond EPCOT, transformations across the rest of the resort are in full swing. Disney’s Animal Kingdom is preparing to introduce Pueblo Esperanza, a new area inspired by the Tropical Americas. The location will feature two major attractions themed to Encanto and Indiana Jones, marking a bold new chapter for the space formerly known as DinoLand U.S.A.

At Magic Kingdom Park, updates to Frontierland are set to bring the Cars franchise into the fold—an announcement that’s sparked mixed reactions among longtime fans. Nearby, the “Beyond Big Thunder” area is also in development, with Disney villains slated to take center stage in ways yet to be fully revealed.

Over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, a brand-new land themed to Monsters, Inc. is coming to life. Monstropolis will include a first-of-its-kind roller coaster inspired by the beloved door sequence from the 2003 film.

And in an exciting milestone, May 21 will mark the first time in six years that all six Disney-operated parks in Orlando will be open on the same day. Notably, this comes just one day ahead of the debut of Universal Orlando Resort’s new addition, Universal Epic Universe.

As always, the Walt Disney World Resort continues to evolve in both big and small ways. Whether you're planning your next visit or dining among the stars, keeping up with the latest operational changes is key to making the most of the magic.

Thomas Hitchen

When he’s not thinking about the Magic Kingdom, Thomas is usually reading a book, becoming desperately obsessed with fictional characters, or baking something delicious (his favorite is chocolate cake -- to bake and to eat). He's a dreamer and grew up on Mulan saving the world, Jim Hawkins soaring through the stars, and Padmé Amidala fighting a Nexu. At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his favorite TV show is Buffy the Vampire Slayer except when it's One Tree Hill. He loves sandy beach walks, forest hikes, and foodie days out in the Big City. Thomas lives in England, UK, with his fiancée, baby, and their dog, a Border Collie called Luna.
